Terence Adonis, Sr.

Legacy of Life “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith.” Terence Adonis, Sr., departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2022. He was born on April 29, 1965, the seventh child of the late Bradley Haynes and Menelva Adonis in Vreed-en-Hoop West Bank Demerara, Guyana. He was fondly known as Terry. He graduated from Vreed-en Hoop High School. Following graduation, he worked for the Guyana Post Office as a mail carrier, where he excelled in his position to supervisor. Terry later then migrated to the United States in 1987 and his first job was working for Schecter and Brooker Attorney’s-at-Law. There he worked as a mail room clerk. Terence was loved by everyone there. He took his job very seriously. He would get to work one hour before scheduled time and very seldom called out. Terry was very fond of children. He would babysit his nieces, nephews, and even the neighbor’s children. He was a dedicated, giving, generous, family-oriented, independent, provider, responsible and helpful to all. Terry enjoyed basketball, cooking, watching television (MSNBC/CNN), and having conversations on politics. Terry is survived by his adored wife, of 36 years Lycetta Adonis; caring daughter, Tereva; loving son, Terence Adonis, Jr.; dear mother-in-law, Enid Squires; three amazing grandkids; loving sisters, Pauline Christian, Lorina Mingo, Deborah Delph; loving brothers, Colin Adonis, Nevil Adonis, Mervyn Bruce; adopted brother, Winston Lovell; wonderful nieces and nephews, Gillian, Kelvin, Caroletta, Shannon, Shellon, Cherry, Cartwright, Kerwin, Delroy, Ken, Stephen, Rachael, Kelvin, and Tumbi; very good friends, George Scott, John Knight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends. As you can see Terence touched so many lives, too numerous to name. His legacy will be forever, and he will be missed dearly by many. God Saw You Getting Tired God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be So he put His arms around you and whispered “Come to me.” You didn’t deserve what you went through, so He gives you rest With tearful eyes, we watched you as you slowly slipped away And though we loved you dearly we couldn’t make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating, your tired hands put to rest God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
