Tavon Teonte' Edwards

On Tuesday, January 23, 2002, in the dawn of the day, You called from labor to reward, Tavon Teonte’ Edwards. Tavon was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 10, 1978 the son of Deborah Lynn Smith, Charles Newby and the late Arnold Edwards. Tavon was educated through the Baltimore City and County Public Schools and graduated from Randallstown High School. Tavon was quite talented and had a flare for modeling. He modeled during his teen years and performed at numerous functions. He attended Catonsville Community College before leaving to join his mom living in California. While in California, Tavon worked in the entertainment field and performed in a number of videos. Tavon developed numerous lasting relationships with a number of influential people including Stevie Wonder, Eunetta Boone and the cast and crew of the hit sitcom “One on One”. On of Tavon’s fondest memories was his 23rd birthday where Stevie Wonder performed. Tavon was truly a family person. He spent a lot of time with his now deceased great-grandmother “Big Nanny” and his beloved grandmother, Dorothy Smith and granddad Henry Moore. Tavon enjoyed a special enduring relationship with his father Charles who was so instrumental in his upbringing. They shared unforgettable moments that will never be forgotten. Tavon had a special bond with his friend, Shawn. Through all of Tavon’s ups and downs, the good and bad times, Shawn was a never wavering friend who was truly like a brother. Tavon also had very close relationships with Kia and Daunte. Throughout his illness, Meg, Yolanda and Gerald played a major role encouraging Tavon and providing spiritual support. Tavon was well known and loved by many. He lived his life to the fullest. Although Tavon suffered tremendoustly throughout the last 3 years of his life, he never complained. Tavon truly exemplified the meaning of strength, courage, determination and perseverance. Through his determination, he accomplished more laying on his back then most people who have their health and strength. To all that touched his life, Tavon left behind a testimony that if written, would spread the length of a football field. Tavon leaves to mourn: his devoted mother, Debbie; his loving little girl Daija and little boy Dillan; father Charles; siblings, David, Jamie, Kim and D.A; two grandmothers, Dorothy Smith and Ella Mae Edwards; two grandfathers, John Q. Smith Jr., and Henry Moore; a great-grandfather, John Q. Smith Sr.; devoted friend Shawn and a host of other friends and relatives.For I am ready to be offered, And the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, Which the Lore, the righteous Judge,Shall give me at that day and not only me, But unto all themAlso that love his appearing.2 Timothy 4: 6-8
