Tara Bennett

Tara Bennett, daughter of Bernard and Alberta Bennett, was born December 9, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life unexpectedly on March 9, 2005. Tara received her elementary education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Mercy High School and continued her education at the Community College of Baltimore. Tara was a dedicated employee of the Federal Government. She began her career with the school program at the Health Care Finance Administration. At the time of her death, she was employed at the Social Security Administration located in Woodlawn, Maryland. Tara received Christ at an early age and attended St. Phillips Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Tara later renewed her Christian faith and joined Union Bethel A.M.E. Church in Randallstown, Maryland. Tara had several passions in life. Some of the most essential were, first, her children, then shopping, reading, movies, decorating, and fine dining. She was often seen with her kids shopping and exploring within the Baltimore metro area, buying toys, clothes, the latest home accessories, and groceries for her growing teenage son and twin daughters. On Christmas morning, her living room resembled a typical Toys "R" Us store. The Food Channel was one of her favorites on cable television. She often tried new recipes she saw. As with all experiments, some turned out well, whereas others met with mixed reviews. One huge success was the incredible feast she prepared for the baby shower of her soon-to-be-born niece, Kira Bennett. Not only did she prepare all the food and beverages, she designed a booklet, games and mementos for the party. Like other members of her family, Tara was an avid conversationalist; she constantly talked on the phone with friends and family. People wanted to share their life experiences with her, and she wanted to do the same with them. Many friends and co-workers mourn Tara's passing and will miss her laugh and the great talks they shared with her. Tara leaves behind many devoted and loving family members: her father and mother, Bernard and Alberta Bennett, with whom she shared her life and the responsibility of raising her three precious children, Cameron, Carmen, and Carrie; her brother, Keith Bennett, his wife Tina Bennett, and daughter Kira Bennett; companion and father of her children, Emmanuel Lelani; uncle, James Johnson; aunt, Diane Johnson; cousin, Ronald Johnson; cousin, Dr. Derek Lindsey, his wife Glenda Lindsey, and their son, Derek Lindsey II; and godparents, Sylvia and Vernon Sanders.
