Sylvia Ross Miller

Sylvia Ross Miller took her journey home on Sunday, February 15, 2015. She was born on June 12, 1948, in Richmond, Virginia, the second child of the late Jesse, Jr. and Dorothy Mae Ross. Sylvia received her early education from the Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1966. She continued her studies at Richmond Professional Institute, now known as VUC (Virginia Commonwealth University.) She was employed at James River Corporation and retired from LandAmerica. She flowed in a spirit of excellence in every job position she held and always encouraged the younger employees to do the same. She made a mark that could not be erased. She joined and was baptized at Fourth Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Robert L, Taylor. She was a member of the Civic Affairs History Committee at Fourth Baptist Church. Sylvia loved life, her family and her friends. She was a Resolver. She was always willing to help a friend or relative in need; if she couldn’t, she would say “I don’t have it, but I will see what I can do,” Her son commented, she had a way with words that could be very comforting and could make everything alright. On the other hand, she was very direct, honest and straight-forward. You never had to wonder what she was thinking because she would let you know in no uncertain terms. Sylvia recently shared with her sister that life is too short to sweat the small stuff. It is so important that we live each day to the fullest. She will be greatly missed.
