Stephen C. Owens

STEPHEN CRAIG OWENS, SR., son of Justine Owens and the lateWardell Owens was born on July 31, 1960 at University Hospital in Baltimore,Maryland. God called him home on January 14, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Stephen received his education in Baltimore City Public School System.Stevie, as we affectionately called him, was a member of Good SheppardBaptist Church in the Park Heights Community. He had a very special lovefor his Mother that was like no other. His Mother was his everything; hisrock, his best friend and the best caretaker anyone could ever have. He talked to his brother, Kareem(Kevin) nearly everyday and their talks werealways uplifting. Stevie adored spending quality time with his one and only son, StephenJr. (Lil Stevie). He took him many places, the Ravens vs. the “Squealers”game and Lexington Market. He gave Lii Stevie a stiff lesson in eating rawoysters at Lexington Market and to this day he loves them. He especially enjoyed when his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter came to visit from Kingston, New York. Stevie loved being a grandfather, he would often say, “I LOVE MY GRANDDAUGHTER.” He had a special love for going to concerts, listening to his Old SchoolR & B music and watching wrestling. Stevie was a huge Ravens Fan and enjoyed watching the games. On a nice sunny day you could always find him relaxing in the shade with his good friend Gil. “Mr. Batman,” his nickname given by niece, Autumn, could be seen cruising through Druid Hill Park, Lexington Market or the Inner Harbor. He had a very special bondwith his cousin, Rhonda and loved her cooking; especially her spaghetti.He loved being an uncle and a great-uncle, He would always say; “I’m the GREATEST.” Stevie was loved by so many family members and friends and will be truly missed. He’s finally received his new body promised from God and celebrating his new life and new home in God’s Kingdom with his sister, Robin and brother, Wardell. He leaves to mourn: his son, Stephen C. Owens, Jr.; mother, JustineOwens; one brother, Kareem Abdullah (Kevin Owens); one half-sister, Julie Anderson; a very close friend, Lolita; granddaughter, Serenity Antoinette Grace Owens; two nieces, Isisha T. Harding and Autumn Robyn Owens; one nephew, Wardell E. Owens, III; one daughter-in-law, Shalanda Owens; one nephew-in-law, Shawn J. Harding; two great-nieces, Khamani ShaRae’ Brown and Chloe Peyton Owens; one great- nephew , Isaiah Shawn Harding; four aunts, three uncles and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wardell Owens, Sr.; brother, Wardell Owens, Jr. and sister, Robin Renae’ Owens
