The Obituary of Stanley Howard Johnson, Jr. Stanley Howard Johnson, Jr., 67 of Charles City, Virginia departed this life on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Stanley was born on February 10, 1946 in Charles City County, Virginia to the late Stanley Howard and Elsie Virginia Johnson. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Herbert Johnson, Sr. Stanley joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He received his education in the Charles City County Public School System, where he graduated from Ruthville High School in 1964. After high school, Stanley enlisted in the United States Army where he earned the ranking of Sergeant. Doing his tenure in the military he also received decorations for Marksmen as well as a National Defense Service Medal. Stanley often shared stories of his time in Germany, especially his time as a boxer while in the US Armed Forces. Later in life Stanley was sent to the Kwajalein, Marshall Islands by his employer where he met his devoted wife, Helmira Jelkan share this union for 35 years. Stanley remained in the computer engineering field throughout his career. Prior to his passing, he was employed by Volt Information Sciences, Inc. as a network technician. Stanley was a very intelligent and witty person who always had quick comebacks for anything anyone would say. Stanley would often visit his beloved mother where he would work crossword puzzles and watch Jeopardy with her. The two of them were quite a team as they answered every question presented. Stanley also enjoys boxing, golf, baseball and football. His favorite team was the Washington Redskins. One of his favorite pastimes were was fishing. He was also a lover of music. One of his favorite singers was Otis Redding. Stan leaves to cherish his memory; His Devoted Wife Helmira Johnson, one son Frederick Douglass Johnson, two daughters Mary ArIna Boyd (Vanish)and Elsie Virginia Johnson; five grandchildren:Aaliyah, LJ, Vanish, Kaleb and Adelel, four brothers; James T. Johnson( Brenda),Linwood A. Johnson( Sandra), Clarence E. Johnson( Paulette) and Robert A. Johnson (Shelia), one sister Elsie Y. Crump (Aubrey), devoted friends Lindbergh and Willie Jane Johnson, a host of nieces nephews cousins and other relatives and friends.
