Stanley C. Harris Sr.

After a lengthy illness, STANLEY CLIFTON HARRIS departed this life on April 10, 2019, at the age of 78. He began life's journey on May 11, 1940 and was the eldest of thirteen children born to the late William and Gladys Harris. He was also preceded by his sister Linda Harris and brothers Ronald and Robert Harris. After graduating from Douglass High School, Stan served in the United States Army, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He attended the Maryland Institute College of Art where he perfected his artistic drawing. Stan's talents allowed him to secure employment at Koppers (currently known at Kaydon Ring and Seal) for over 28 years as a tool and die maker. Stan was a man of few words who will fondly remembered for his expression through song. At at an early age, he attended Macedonia Baptist Church where he sang on the youth choir. Later in life, he joined Bethel AME Church and sang on men's choir. He enjoyed reminiscing, listening to oldies' and harmonizing with his brothers at family gatherings. Stan was known for his distinctive rendition of 'Oh Danny Boy' which was a regular request of his family. Stan took fashion cues from no one. His signature look was khaki pants, a plaid shirt, and tam hat. Stan was an avid reader who enjoyed fishing, horseracing and playing pool. He considered himself the 'Minnesota Fats' of Baltimore. In recent years, Stan socialized at the Zeta House, where he feast3ed with friends and vacationed to various destination. While at the Zeta House, Stan developed a fondness of modern technology that resulted in him attending computer classes. Stan is survived by: seven children, Stanley Harris, Jr. (Nadia), Elizabeth (Tanyia) Harris, Ronald Harris (Patricia), Julie (Niecey) Harris, Janet (Bunny) Harris, Daniel (Lonnie) Harris (Ann) and Stanley (Wiz) Harris; four brothers, Wayne Harris (Sandra), John Harris, Michael Harris and Tyrone Harris; five sisters, Penelope Sykes, Kathleen Coles, Carolyn Taylor (Wallace),Margaret Harris and Shirley Harris, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Stan will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew him.
