The Life of Shirley Ann Robinson Wright I leave you peace, I give you my peace. I do not give it you the way that the world gives it. Do not let your hearts be troubled nor let them shrink for fear. John 14:2 God has called our angel home. On October 1, 2016, Shirley Ann Wright went to claim God's promise of an eternal place of rest, free from all pain and suffering. Born on June 1, 1940 to Willie Robinson, Sr. and Pearl Dickerson, she was the oldest of three children. At an early age, Shirley was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time at her Grandmother Estelle's farm with family in the country. She loved the Lord and attended church every Sunday. Since then she has been a devoted Christian serving in many ministries: Usher board, Hospitality, Church Anniversary, and the Senior Ministry. Shirley attended Richmond Public Schools. She went on to marry and raised two sons and three daughters. Her devotion to family was so great that she assisted in raising seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was called by others outside of the family as Momma/Grandma Shirley. She was a very strong woman. She did not complain, after every doctor's appointment when asked how it went, she said, “fine, I’m good", with a smile. She supported her family in everything they did. She instilled strong family values into all of her kids and grandkids; she was an inspiration to all. She was very forgiving and never held a grudge. Shirley was a dedicated worker for over 30 years; the majority of that time was with AT&T from which she retired. After working a few more years for Lucent Technologies, at her doctor's advice she retired from working altogether. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family, baking, traveling, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, fellowshipping and having a good time; she especially loved her church and rarely missed a Sunday. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Willie Robinson Sr. and sister, Edith Banks. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Steve Wright (Jerry) and Donnell Wright; three daughters Cassandra Freeman, Venetia Wright, and Taneka Spears (Robert); eight grandchildren, Tomeka El-Amin, Tarshema McLemore, Jessica Wright, Ebonye Bryant, JayShawn Wright, Rasheed Abdullah, and Mason Spears; four great grandchildren, Delores El-Amin, Eric McLemore, Madison McLemore, Bryce Moody; one brother Willie Robinson, Jr.; three nieces, Tarica Banks, Savisca Robinson, Monyette Wynn; and a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley Wright was a living testimony of one fully surrendered to the will of God.
