Shirley A. James

I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. (John 11:25) On Monday, December, 12, 2016 the heavy burden of this world was suddenly lifted from the shoulders of Shirley Anna James. and the angels of Heavenly Host led her to eternal rest and peace. Shirley Anna James was born to the late Ressey and Ruth Price on July 26, 1936 in Glen Burnie,Maryland. She was born with an earthly assignment to serve as a caregiver fro her family, friends, and anyone that God allowed to cross her path. Shirley was a loving, caring. and devoted sister to Harold, Benjamin, Reesey Jr., Louis and Thomas who proceeded her in death and; Edwin, Catherine and Marie. She treasured her relationship with her siblings and was always available to support her during the time of distress. Shirley was also a loving, caring and devoted mother of two daughters, Rosalyn and Myra. After the death of her devoted husband, Willie James III on September 19, 1961 the same day in which she gave birth to her youngest daughter, she assumed the role of both mother and father for 55 years. Shirley received her education in the Arundel County School Systems, and went on to persue a career in nursing. She was employed at Harbour Inn Convalescent Home for 31 years where she received several awards for her dedication in providing outstanding care for the elderly and disabled. Shirley enjoyed trips to Alantic City, shopping, family gatherings, reading and exploring new cuisine. In 1987 Shirley joined the First Baptist Church of Fairfield and received her baptism there under the leadership of Reverend Williams. Shirley loved the Lord and on a daily basis praised and thanked God for his grace, mercy and hedge of protection. Shirley leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters Rosalyn Spears and Myra James; a grand-daughter, Cicely Spears; two great-grandsons, Dominick and Malik Lewis; two loving sisters, Marie Jackson and Catherine Williams; a bother, Edwin Price; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Price and Dorothy James-Berry; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as her extended family, the McIntosh and Johnson Family.
