Shilot Elizabeth Jackson

SHILOT ELIZABETH JACKSON, the beloved daughter of the late Carrie & George Holmes, the second oldest daughter of this union she was born on August 8, 1935 in Baltimore, MD at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Shilot, quietly departed this life on Wednesday January 12, 2011 at 12:14pm at Alice Manor Nursing Home under the care of Stella Maris Hospice. One of 11 Siblings she had four brothers and two sisters who preceded her in death, Roland Holmes, Willis Holmes, Joseph Holmes, Robert Holmes, Catherine Holmes & Vera Holmes-McCoy. Shilot aka Ma, Mommie, Grandma, Girlfriend, or Ms. Jackson to many received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She went on to a degree in business at the Cortez Peters Business School. Shilot worked for Randallstown Genesis Eldercare Nursing Home before retiring in 1997. Shilot was united in Holly Matrimony to the late Joseph Jackson and from this union she had three children, both before and after the union she had three more children. Shilot was a devoted member of John Wesley United Memorial Church for many years until her health prevented her from being able to attend church on a regular basis, but that did not stop her from giving praises unto him and reading the good book of the Gospel, The Holy Bible. Ma, Mommie, Ms Jackson as many knew her was known to feed you till you were full. He house was not only open to family but friends as well and was known for Seafood Friday Nights and Basement Parties or just conversation and company. Mommy’s past time/hobbies was going to Lexington Market getting a corn beef sandwich with chips and a cold Pepsi or going to the Inner Harbor for a crabcake and leamonade. Oh how we are going to miss those days and snacks. Shilot will truly be missed. She leaves to mourn: her six children Linda S. Stewart Looney (Jerry Looney), Edward C. Jackson (Anita Jackson), Earl S. Jackson, Deborah D. Holmes Cherry (Vanni Cherry), Sheila E. Jackson & Tina L. Jackson Whitney (the apple of her eyes) (Steven E. Whitney. One brother Ryland Tomlin, three sisters Mary Pinder, Geneva Vaugh, Genevive Bunn. Fourteen grandchildren Dankedia, Antonio, Ernest, Cynthia, Shawn, Kevin, Ashley, Takeria, Steven, Levi. Thirty-one great-grandchildren with two on the way. And a host of nieces and nephews.
