Sherri Maxine Marshall

Sherri Randolph Marshall affectionately called “Penny” was born July 14, 1953. Our beloved Penny entered into eternal life on Friday, June 22, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Marshall, Sr., and parents Walker B. and Louise J. Randolph. She was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, VA, at an early age. After making her permanent residence in Henrico, VA, Penny later joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Board, Evangelism Ministry and several other ministries. She was a dedicated member of Mt. Olive, she loved the Lord and her Church; however, Penny made her way on fifth Sundays to the First Union Baptist Church to hear the Soul Seekers sing. She was a faithful member until her health failed. Penny graduated from Lee Davis High School and later attended J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Penny and Earl were married in 1971 and from this union were three children. They were a military family and their travel took them to Oklahoma, Germany, and New Jersey but it always brought them back home to Virginia. Penny worked 30 years for the U.S. Government, 25 of which she served in support of the United States Marine Corps. She was a dedicated worker and she loved her Marines. Despite suffering from Renal disease that required nightly dialysis, Penny did not let it stop her from a full schedule of work and other activities. She leaves to cherish and keep her memories three devoted children, William Earl Marshall, Jr., Dameon Marshall (Karen), and Lauri J. Marshall, two sisters, the oldest who acted as her caregiver, Brenda Edwards (James), and Nellie Wilson; two brothers, James Randolph (Carolyn), and Kevin Randolph (Natalie); six grandchildren; Jazmin Marshall, Ma’at Marshall, Peighton Molina, Evan Marshall, Nala Marshall, and Prosper Marshall; as well as three devoted friends, Rev. Evelyn Beard, Linda Jones and Rev. Patricia Ellis; a devoted niece and caregiver, Jernier Cox. She was also survived by other family members: sister-in-law, Joyce Monroe; two brothers-in-law, Robert and James Marshall; uncle, Ryland Randolph; aunts, Ella Bert Randolph, Juanita Roane, Katie Roane and Elizabeth Beard; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom were blessed to know her. Because of the wonderful love Penny shared, she will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. We are so fortunate to have had her in our lives and we will miss her dearly.
