Sheron Lawson

Sheron Ann Lawson, lovingly known as “Cheryl”, daughter of the late Leroy and Lillie Helen Watson made her entrance into this world on Monday, July 12, 1954 in Smithfield, North Carolina. She departed this life on Thursday, August 20, 2020, after a sudden health event. Cheryl accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior at an early age. Her relationship with Christ was her own. Cheryl moved to Baltimore, Maryland with her Mom and seven siblings at the age of six. In Baltimore, she found her first love, Norman Lee Richardson and from that union, her cherished, devoted and only child, Regina was born. Cheryl received her primary education in Baltimore City public schools. After which she held jobs at Chimes and Montrose Juvenile Detention. These experiences fueled her life’s purpose of caring for and serving others. It was then that she became even more motivated to become a Social Worker and a first-generation college graduate; receiving her Associate of Arts Degree in Human Services from the Community College of Baltimore. After graduating, she spent 30 years working for the Maryland Department of Human Resources in Adult and Child Protective Services. In 2016, Cheryl retired and faithfully became the caregiver for her husband, “Michael”, of 19 years, until her passing. Cheryl loved cruising, playing slots and taking her “chance” on the lottery. She would often say “You better keep such and such number in. It’s coming”. She was often right. Although she was serious and matter of fact, she was super funny. You always knew how she felt because she lovingly spoke her mind and did what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it. Family was most important to her. She will forever be missed by many. Cheryl leaves to cherish her precious memory; Husband, Thomas Michael Lawson;Daughter, Regina Richardson and her fiancé Hashim Alark; Grandson, Danté Chavez; Sisters, Lucille Johnson, Betty Jean Williams and Linda Nixon; Brothers, Calvin (David) Watson Sr., Edward Watson and Danny Ray Watson; Special friends, Theresa Brown, Nantly “Sis” Brown and Joyce Henderson; a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
