Shelba Stanford

Shelba Virginia Stanford was born on April 5, 1956 in Talbot County, Maryland to the late Addison Harry and Daisy Virginia Stanford. Shelba was called home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2016. Shelba was survived by her brothers and sister, Harry Stanford, Sheila Stanford, Richard Warren Stanford and Gary Stanford. Out of her marriage union with George Henry Shell, Jr was born Shajuane Shell. Shelba receivd her education in the Baltimore City Public School system. She loved the retail industry and worked for Ross Dress For Less where she was the assistant manager for many years. Shelba joined PAYCHEX INC where she worked as the Branch Administrative Assistant. She was a dedicated employee with over 20 years of employment. She enjoyed spreading God's word with her co-workers and clients. Shelba had a vivacious spirit. Her smile and laughter would light up a room. She was this little person with this big personality and loud voice. You definitely knew when Shelba was in the room. She was always known for her unique style of fashion and those long colorful nails. Shelba loved life, her family and friends. She was always willing to help others with encouraging words, big smile and a warm hug. Most of all she loved the Lord and had an unshakeable faith. This was evident in how she handled adversities throughout her life. She used adversity to grow closer to the Lord, share Christ and her testimony with those she encountered. Shelba joined New Psalmist Baptist Church on April 1, 1996. She participated in the Discipleship class and Cancer ministry. She loved her church family and was affectionately known as the Candy Lady. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Shajuane Alkea Holmes, Son-in-law Eric Holmes, Sr, Brothers Richard Warren Stanford and Gary L. Stanford, Sister-in-law Karen Stanford, grandchildren MyShawne, Jada, Jazmine, Princess, Lyric, Eric Jr and her little angel Ari Pari, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of family and friends. There were several special Prayer Warriors, Rev. James Green, Roosevelt and Debbie Harris, Deacon Joe and Deaconess Denise McCray, Minister Mary Thomas and Minister Carolyn Smith and all the Discipleship sisters and Cancer Ministry members. As Shelba would always say, "I have cancer, I am not cancer."
