Shawn D. Love

Shawn Darnell Love was born June 18, 1971 in Baltimore, Maryland to Sheila Love and Gunner Worthington. Shawn accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at new psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School graduating in 1960. After graduation, Shawn worked several jobs including Bennigan's Charter House and MCI Communications. Shawn enlisted into the United States Navy and was stationed in Jacksonville Florida serving his country for 8 years. During his time in the Navy, Shawn served as a firefighter and a military police officer. He served on the USS Belleau Wood and USS Kitty Hawk naval ships traveling the world from Japan to Saudi Arabia. Shawn was honorably discharged from the United States Navy July 15, 1998. Shawn's heart for people lead to his career with social Security Administration which spanned over 20 years. He was known as Mr. love and fulfilled his purpose in serving others through his time with the Social Security Administration. He was devoted to helping others in need and strived to be an agent of change in their lives. Shawn worked in several capacities, including customer claims representative and later advanced to lead customer claims representative. Most recently, Shawn was promoted as a claim's specialist in Washington DC. Notably, Shawn was awarded a certificate of appreciation for protecting his female coworkers at the Camp Springs Office. Mr. Love was known as a positive and supportive coworker who would often treat his coworker to Topolino's Italian Bistro. Shawn was quintessential father, son, brother, uncle and nephew. He will be remembered for his commitment and dedication to his family. He was a devoted father who adored his daughter China, affectionately known as his Princess Sunshine. Shawn honored his mother with his words and actions. He was her confidant and protector and they shared many fond memories. Shawn and his younger brother Mikey and encouraged his nieces and nephew to become knowledgeable of their family linage. Shawn admired and respected his aunts and uncles and doted on his younger cousins. Mr. Love was a respected gentleman whose life was an example of love for Christ, love for family and love for others. Shawn possessed resilience in the face of adversity and faith in the face of uncertainty. Shawn will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, generosity and thoughtfulness. He was simply an angel on earth. Shawn transitioned from his earthy home to his heavenly home October 10, 2018 Those waiting to welcome him, grandparents James Love, Sr. Ruth Love and cousin, Bryson Love. Those left to cherish his memory, parents, Sheila Love and Gunner Worthington, daughter, China Rain Love, brother Jerome “Mike” Love Andrea (Dawn) Love, nephew Jerome Love , Jr., nieces, Jakayla Love and Jordyn Love, aunts and uncles, Karen Calloway, James Love Jr .Vantana Love, Roslyn Batts, Lisa Love, Barbara Manning and Valerie Hamilton. A host of other relatives , friends, neighbors, Social security Administration employees and the 6:40 MARC Train Crew.
