Shawn Aldridge

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Shawn Jerrod Aldridge, also known as, "Flakie", who departed this life on January 5, 2025 at the age of fifty-nine. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, who touched the lives of many with his humor, kindness and unforgettable charm. Shawn was born on October 16, 1966 in Baltimore, MD. He spent his very early years in South Baltimore, but actually grew up in West Baltimore - "Baltimore 'n' Hilton" to be exact. Shawn was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. His most recent job, Flagger Force, Shawn earned a supervisory role and was proud to lead a small team. Shawn had an undeniable passion for cooking and his banana pudding was legendary - second only to Ange's. He loved to make people laugh; often filling the room with his quick-witted sense of humor. Shawn shared a deep bond with his brothers, especially Ricky, with whom he shared a home for the last several years. His love for debates extended beyond sports, as Shawn enjoyed lively conversations about politics with his brother as well. A devoted sports fan, Shawn loved all kinds of sports but had a particular loyalty to our Baltimore Ravens, often passionately discussing games and strategies with his brothers, cousins and friends. Shawn's cousins held a special place in his heart, as their bond was shaped through the years they spent growing up together in Aunt Joyce's (or Ange's) loving home. Whether making desserts, cheering on the Ravens or sharing a joke, Shawn brought joy and connection to people around him. Shawn wasn't perfect and he never claimed to be. He faced his own battles, but through it all, he remained unapologetically authentic with those he loved. He was honest about his journey and embraced every part of who he was. His resilience was admirable. He loved deeply and wholeheartedly. While he wasn't married at the time of his passing, he was grateful to have experienced the bond of marriage during his life. Shawn is survived by his brothers: Eric "Ricky" Reid and Toby (Santosha) Roach; uncle, Ronald Scott, Sr.; cousins who were more like siblings, Kevin Aldridge, Randolph Aldridge III, Robert (Lakeida) Aldridge, Ronald Scott, Jr., Shana (Michael) McIver, Neikeda Daniels, Rashida Daniels, Brandon Johnson; great cousins, Kahla, Antwan, Eshyna and Meena; a special friend, Francine; along with other relatives and friends far and near who cared for him dearly. He was predeceased by his mother, Jacqueline Roach; father, Alexander Roach; aunts/second mothers; Joyce and Gloria; uncles, Robert Sr., Randolph Jr. and Harold; cousins, Tinesta, Damon and Darrell.
