Sharon M. Jones

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born...” And so it was on January 29, 1956. Sharon Marie Jackson was born to Geraldine Jackson Moore and Joseph Jackson. “And a time to die...” Late in the evening of April 10, 2011, quietly and peacefully God call Sharon home to be with Him eternally. Sharon Marie was born at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. As a young girl she moved to New York city to live with her aunt Annie. She later returned to Baltimore at the age of 13, where she remained until her death. As a young girl and on into adulthood Sharon Marie enjoyed spending time with her closet friend and cousin Carolyn”Chummy” Woods. The two of them were inseparable. They were known to travel, hang out together and have long conversations over the phone. In 1971, Sharon Marie gave birth to her first baby girl Karla Denise Jackson affectionately known as Dede. Dede and her mom had a very unique relationship and Sharon would often refer to her as her “Wild Flower.” In 1972 Sharon gave birth to her first son, Maurice Eugene Jackson in 1974 her second daughter Katrina Donte Jackson. In 1977, Sharon Marie joined in holy matrimony to Thomas Edward Jones Sr. From this union came two beautiful children; Thomas Edward and Kristin Martha Jones. In September of 1983 Sharon Marie Jones gave birth to the youngest of her six children Vallee Lennell McGee, affectionately known as “Bear”. Each one of Sharon's children loved their mother in their own special way and they all held their own place in her heart. In the later years Sharon enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would always talk about how happy she was to have such a big family and was the life of the party every time they all got together. One of her favorite things to do was sit at home and watch Lifetime movies with her longtime friend and companion Jeffrey. She also had a beautiful voice and could often be heard in the house humming her all time favorite song”God Specializes”. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; One sister; Joyce Jackson Hood, two brothers; Joseph Jackson and Donald Jackson; six children; Karla Denise Jackson Ahkwara,, Maurice Eugene Jackson, Katrina Donte Jackson, Thomas Edward Jones, Kristin Martha Jones and Vallee Lennell McGee ( all of Baltimore, Md.). One very close cousin Carolyn Woods. Longtime friend and mother figure Doris Morton, 11 grandchildren; Nieasha, Tahara, Andre, Brittany, Ke'nae, James, Tommy, Raheem, Danika, Destiny, and Diamond, 6 great grandchildren, and host of other close nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
