Sharon D. Wright

Sharon Denise Baker-Wright, daughter of Goldie and Larry Baker was born on December 3, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a lengthy illness.Sharon was a bouncy, bubbly, little girl growing up in east Baltimore.She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System; graduating top of her class from Venable High School in 1976. Janie, as she was known to family and friends, had numerous nicknames: Janie, Janie Mae, Bigs, Bang, and Sharone, was very well known and loved in the east Baltimore communities. She loved Delegate Clarence Davis and Senator McFadden. She was always a willing worker in their political campaigns.She loved children and was always baby sitting for family and friends. She always helped people, family, and friends in sickness and trouble.In 1985, Janie married the late DeAngelo Wright, and from this union came one daughter, Joy Theresa Wright, her only child.As a young girl Janie attended church at Saint Paul Baptist Church. Later in life, after receiving Christ she was baptized and became a member of Mount Pleasant Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Clifford M. Johnson, where she remained until her passing.Janie accepted her illness and made peace with God. She loved having her mother read the 23rd Psalms to her.Janie had a kind and giving heart; she loved people and would share her home and her food with anyone in need. She loved listening to music, she loved to dance, play Pinochle, and hang out with her sisters (the “O No Girls”).She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to mourn her passing: her loving daughter, Joy; her parents; a loving grandmother, Lovie Baker; three sisters, Shirley, Carolyn, and Terri Baker; three brothers, Henry Epps, Larry and Maurice Baker; two half-sisters, Rhonda and Rolanda Baker; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Her last wish was to see her daughter graduated from school on Saturday, June 7, 2003 and to get well to take care of her sick mother and leave her daughter in her mother’s care.New Rest In Peace Sharon. We will always love you.
