Shannon Rene White

Legacy of Love Shannon was born to James and Nannetta Jackson at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia on August 23rd, 1972. She spent her early years growing up with her sisters Angie and Rosalind in Arlington, Virginia before moving to Dale City, Virginia where she attended Kerry Dale Elementary, and then on to Woodbridge Middle School. Shannon attended Garfield Senior High for two years before moving to Charlottesville and attended Charlottesville High School. Shannon graduated with an advanced diploma from CHS in 1990 and received National Honor Society recognition. Shannon loved to dance, so the Step Team was a natural fit for her at CHS. Shannon’s education continued at Piedmont Virginia Community College, where she majored in Biology and held the office of President of the Black Student Alliance. Shannon worked diligently to stay on the Dean’s List as she balanced the demands of work and school. After two years, Shannon transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University where she continued her studies and married the love of her life and senior prom date, Sean White. Sean and Shannon’s marriage in 1992 was divinely ordained and continued for the next 26 years. Shannon is the mother of three college graduates - Shawnetta Andrea Jackson, Angel Danielle White and Joshua Sean White. Shannon is also the grandmother of three beautiful grand babies - McKenzie, Aubri and Cassidy Speller of Virginia Beach. Shannon entered the work force at an early age and started her career as a Bank Teller at Jefferson Savings and Loans in November of 1990. Shannon went on to amass a stellar career in the mortgage banking industry with roles that included Loan Processor, Loan Officer, Home Loan Consultant, Project Manager, DE Mortgage Underwriter, Processing Manger, and Senior Underwriting Relationship Manager Assistant Vice President. Outside of work, Shannon spent her time traveling with her husband which often included visits to major metropolitan cities across the country such as the sunny beaches of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, shopping and seeing the sights on the Vegas strip, busy Manhattan getaways, Boston Harbor, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills and LA to name a few. In addition to traveling, Shannon remained active in her church and proudly served on the Pastor’s Aid Team and Marriage Ministry here at City Church. It was an honor for Shannon to serve in each capacity, and she did it with dignity and grace. Shannon’s smile and beautiful personality lights up the room, and her passion for style and fashion never went unnoticed. Shannon finished her assignment and accomplished her goal of raising her family. It is clear that Jesus is Lord, and beside Him there is no other. Shannon instilled values and truths that will last a lifetime and will forever be remembered. Shannon holds a strong value for marriage, and was always mindful that her marriage is an example to many. The marriage between Sean and Shannon is a love story sealed and confirmed by all of you here today, and is something that will never be erased. Shannon is preceded in her transition by paternal grandparents James A. Jackson Sr. and Bessie B. Jackson, maternal grandparents James and Mabel Jordan, her two uncles George L. Jordan and Marvin Jordan, and a cousin Theodora Crawford. Shannon White, a beauty to us all, still lives.
