Sandra B. McDonald

Sandra B. McDonald, daughter of the late James Clarence Bates and Ruth Viola Lake was born on April 18, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She received her education in Baltimore and New York School Systems and Retired as a Special Education Teacher from New York School Board of Education in 2008. Sandy or Sand as she was affectionately called was an active Eastern Star Administrator for many years even after returning home from New York. Her faith has always been Baptist which is why she was a member at Trinity Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to Huber Memorial Church. Sandy was a very Strong Classy Lady, Diva, and Queen, if you really knew her you know what I'm talking about.. nails done, hair done, everything well put together always, even her pajamas were fancy. She was such a Gem, taking the lead in everything in Life and taught her children and everyone who listened to do the same. She by far was a Hero for so many throughout her life, even when fighting her own battles, she would still give a helping hand. Lets not forget to mention how she loved to dance and boy could she cut a rug. Sandy loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely and would go to any means necessary to provide and protect them. Sandy loved God and her gospel music! She loved family and she absolutely loved life! Leading up to her final day, Sandy was surrounded by loving family and friends and the day she departed all of her children were with her... she smiled and faded away. Her wish was to be home and that wish was always honored. The last year of her life, she was home and cared for by her daughter, Amanda Manning, because she did not want to be in a nursing home and for this she was very grateful. Sandy leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Sandy Williams “Poochie”, Amanda Manning “ Porsha”, one daughter Christine Davis “ Candy” proceeded her death, two sons, Benjamin McDonald “ Bubbles” Melvin Williams 11 grandchildren, Sheree, Jamar, Lateshia, Tehron, Davon, James, Keamba, Khaira, Bentavia, Melvin Jr., 1 grandson Gerard proceede her in death, one grandson in-law Dion Mitchiner, 11 great grands, Nizah, Kyreese, Jamel, Jamaya, Aleah, Damond, Natiera, Karon, Tyjei, Chauncey ( he waited on her hand and foot at only 7 years Old) and Panther, 1 devoted nephew Quinton Samuels, 3 step children she loved as her own, Ricky, Rodd and Schrae, siblings from her only brother especially Patsy and Theresa, her special daughter and niece Alice and Yolanda, her first cousins who were like her siblings as well, her bestie and lifetime friend Faye, George who she looked at as her son in law, her very special friend Anthony, our beautiful neighbor Kym, Ms. Deana from Trinity Baptist and a host of friend and relatives.
