Sandra Ellen Martin-Tapp

SANDRA ELLEN MARTIN-TAPP was born to Luther Martin and Nannie Mae Walker in Danville, Virginia on December 13, 1936. She received the call from our Lord on Friday, January 11, 2013, to come home and now her faith has now become sight and she is now occupying her room in His great mansion in glory. She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1998, she graduated and received a certificate of Biblical Studies from the Baltimore School of the Bible Sandra made her career in the field of nursing aide at Spring Grove State Hospital and several nursing homes. She later married her husband of many years, Mr. Oscar E. Tapp and became the stepmother of six (6) children. Sandra accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age. She was an active and faithful member of the Genesis Bible Fellowship Church, under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Wayne Cockrell. When health permitted she worked side-by-side with her husband, Deacon Oscar Tapp and served as an Usher at Genesis Bible Fellowship Church. When she became ill, she continued to support him in his work as Deacon, and she fellowshipped with her flock members and gave words of encouragement from God’s Word to the members of Genesis Bible Fellowship Church. Even in her illness, as she became weak, she would seek the Lord and His strength. Sister Sandra understood the power of prayer and that the Lord was always there for her and gave her the strength that she needed. Sandra was a devoted wife, sister, and mother to so many women that had contact with her. Prior to her illness she lived an active life and loved to shop and go on shopping trips with her only sister, Teresa. Sandra leaves to cherish her loving memory: her loving and devoted husband, Oscar E. Tapp; and her sister, Teresa Martin; five stepchildren, Shermaine, Lawrence, Alphonso, Jackie and Rhonda; one aunt, Elizabeth Martin; nieces, Maxine, Vallerie, Gwendolyn and Robin; nephews, Kevin, now in Afghanistan, Tim and Clyde; a host of great and great-great-nieces and -nephews and step-grands, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three younger brothers, Larry, Rodney and Robert Martin; her nephews, LaMonte and Bruce Martin; and a stepson, Donny.
