Sallie Felder

MRS. SALLIE OLIVER FELDER, daughter of the late Gentry and Hannah Harvin Oliver, was born September 22, 1925 in Clarendon County, Manning, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Forest Haven Nursing Home in Catonsville, MD. Two sons, Rossell Oliver and James McCray Jr., five sisters, Rebecca Oliver, Mary Oliver, Martha Johnson, Katie Moorer, and Anna Eliza McCray, three brothers, Isaac Oliver, Murray Oliver and Bacchaeus Oliver and her step-mother, Mrs. Annie Pendergrass Oliver all preceded her in death. Sallie, one of sixteen children, was raised on a small farm in Manning, South Carolina. She received her formal education in the Clarenton County Public Schools System. At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Manning, SC. In 1940, she was wed in Holy Matrimony to Leroy Felder. Two children were born to this union. Sometime later around 1948, in order to begin a new life, Sallie moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she met James McCray-Bey and from this union two children were born. For many years, Sallie was employed as a housekeeper. She lovingly cared for her children and opened her home to family and friends in need until she become ill and disabled. Unable to care for herself, she spent over thirty-seven years in various nursing homes in Maryland. Her family, particularly Ann and Jackie, and her sisters, visited with her regularly; lovingly bringing their mother to family gatherings at their homes until she became bedridden. Although Sallie could not speak, her eyes would light up each and every time a love one would come to visit her and she would do her best to whisper their name, bestowing a beautiful smile upon her visitors as she waved her hands with joy and excitement and following their every moved with her eyes! Even though her abilities were limited, Sallie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her, and we bow in humble submission to the will of the father. Sallie leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories, six children: Leroy (Margaret) Felder of Savannah, GA, Dixie (Fred) Morgan of Pasadena, MD, Abraham Felder, Angeline Green, Janice Oliver and Jacqueline (Ralph) Marshall of Baltimore, MD; ten grandchildren: Gregory Felder of San Diego, CA, Sheila Carter of Summerton, SC, Lisa (Lawton) DuPont of Columbia, SC, Sonseeahray Green, Keona Green, Stanley Macklin Jr., Rachelle Marshall, Duane Brooks and Clay Morgan of Baltimore, MD and Shawn Morgan of Pasadena, MD; seven great-grand children; Lauren DuPont and Lawton DuPont IV of Columbia, SC, Armani Marshall, Nardia Harley and De’Monta Marshall of Baltimore, MD, three sisters: Louise Oliver Dingle-El and Rachel Oliver Hicks of Baltimore, MD and Doris Oliver (Roosevelt) Mouzon of Manning, SC, as well as ahost of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend
