Sabrena Patricia Phillips

In deep love and sorrow, we announce the transitioning of Sabrena Patricia Phillips, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who departed this earthly life peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026. Sabrena was born on December 31, 1957, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Junius Williams, Sr and Doretha E. Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Phillips and her brother Anthony Williams. Sabrena leaves and cherished her children: John Hawkins IV, Terfonda Hawkins, and Joquan Hawkins. Also, she leaves her beloved grandchildren: Nyeemah Eggleston, Nykira Eggleston, Jaquira Minor-Hawkins, Aubrey Walker and Nyzair Thomas; they all brought her great joy. She is survived by her sisters and brother: Barbara Tomonia, Starlene Williams (Linwood), Teresa Williams, Malinda White, Lynetta Williams, Junius Williams Jr. They will forever hold her close in their hearts. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. She shared a special and loving bond with her cousin Gloria R. Harris (Marshall), whose presence, care, and companionship were a constant blessing in her life. She also leaves behind her dear friends from the Department of Motor Vehicles, especially Sheila Terry and Jennifer Yates. Her fur baby Max brought her joy every single day. We know Max will miss her touch and loving presence. In her early years, she was educated in Richmond Public Schools, where she graduated from John Marshall High School. She received her certification in Data Entry. She was also a dedicated employee of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) where she worked faithfully for 40 years in various roles and later retired. Her commitment, reliability and warm spirit left a lasting impression on co-workers and customers. At the Sheltering Arms Program, she spent many years where she enjoyed a full schedule of activities and fellowship. She loved the outings which included a cruise to the Bahamas, bowling, fishing, picnics, movies and much more. Sabrena was blessed with many gifts and hobbies including drawing, painting, sewing, crocheting, writing, cooking, and hair styling. She had a stylish flair for clothing, hats, and jewelry. Creativity flowed through everything she touched, and she shared her talents generously with those around her. Sabrena received Christ at an early age. She made City Church her spiritual place of worship. Her faith and her church family played an important part of her journey. Those who knew Sabrena will remember her gentle spirit, laughter and bright smile. Her home was a welcoming place of comfort and an open door to many. Her memory remains a blessing. Her legacy of love will never be forgotten.
