Ruth Virginia Wax

Ruth Virginia Wax, the oldest of the late Charles and Sarah Sheppard, went home to the Lord suddenly on April 10, 2004 at Northwest Hospital. Ruth was born February 17, 1918 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was educated in the Baltimore public school system.On August 30, 1934, she married William T. Wax from this union, six children were born; William Jr., Marva, Melvin, Gary, Denise, and Brenda.In 1958, Ruth was employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she became Supervisor of the Escort Messenger Service. She retired from this position in 1981 after 23 years of service.In her earlier years Ruth was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church where Reverend Timothy Boddie was pastor. She later became a faithful member of Whitestone Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of The Flower Circle. Ruth loved the Lord. She would read her Bible every morning.Granny, as she was known by her great-grandchildren, was industrious and hardworking. She was a family woman and had a keen interest in each member of her family.Granny loved people, and anyone whose life she touched was never the same. She was everyone’s Grandmother. Granny loved to dress and rose to every occasion. You could never come to her house and leave without tasting her home cooking, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, sweet potato pies, and pound cake just to name a few.To celebrate her homegoing and rejoice in her memory, Granny leaves: her husband, William three sons, William Jr., Melvin, and Gary; three daughters, Marva, Denise, and Brenda; two sisters, Sarah McRae and Barbara Nelson; one brother, Charles Sheppard; two brothers-in-law, Hillard McRae and James Nelson; three sisters-in-law, Carrie Sheppard, Era Tunkins, and Frances Banks; three daughters-in-law, Naomi, Jacqueline and Stacy; ten grandchildren, Milton, Wanda, Sheila, Tonya, Taynisha, Anthony, Little Melvin, Alganon, Melvin, and Patricia; twelve great-grandchildren, Marlowe, Krysten, Deja, Devin, Rashard, Abreya, Autumn, Courtney, Indya, Timothy, Alganon Jr., and Tamera; three great-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Marlowe Jr., and Derrell; her loving and devoted cousin, Lucille Hance; her goddaughter, Mercelle Alexander; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
