Rudy Elizabeth Harrison Evans

Ruby Elizabeth Harrison Evans was born on May 22, 1922 in Winnsboro,South Carolina and departed this life on October 19, 2009. She was the granddaughter of Richard and Sylvia Brevard Harrison and Julia M. and John Caison. Ruby was the fourth child of Richard and Mary Caison Harrison,all of Winnsboro. Ruby grew up in Winnsboro with her parents,seven brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her brothers,Richard J.,Paul and John A.(Shirley)Harrison and sisters,Annie Mae carter(James),Julia Davis(Melvin)and Georgia Redd.She was predeceased by her soulmate and husband of 51 years,McClinton Evans,Sr. of Richmond,Virginia. They were joined in marriage March 18,1943 and made their home in Washington Park for many years. In 1986,they moved to their current home where they both lived until they passed away,after being cared for by their faithful family.A long member of Saint John 's Baptist Church,Ruby joined Providence Park Baptist Church,January 22,1989,to attend services and support her beloved husband,who was ill. She continued as a faithful member often,escorted by her dutiful son,McClinton Jr. as her illness progressed.Mrs. Evans earned her license as a Practical Nurse from Maggie Walker High School in 1953,and retired after 30 years. Her professional demeanor earned her the respect of many patients,family members and colleagues she mst through the years.The focus of her life was her family,striving always to be a good wife and mother. A diligent worker,she set high expectations for her children accepting only their best. A loving mother and life partner to her husband,she was a wonderful role model for all those who knew her. Later in life,she assumed a role that brought her great joy,that of Nana to her grandgranddaughter,Marypeyton. Ruby will be greatly missed by all who loved her.She is survived by devoted children,McClinton Evans,Jr. and Belinda Evans Randolph(Peyton);beloved granddaughter,Marypeyton Evans Randolph,of Baltimore;dearest sister,Hattie Tolbert (James),Minneapolis,Minnesota;and her steadfast friend,Annie Harrison.Ruby also leaves to cherish memories half-siblings,Charles(Mae),George(Lucy),Clarence(Edna),Douglas(Sallie),Bobby(Doris)Harrison;brothers-in-law,Albert Redd,Sr. and Alga B. Evans,Sr. sisters-in-law,Katherine and Earlene Evans,many nieces,nephews,other relatives and friends.
