Rudene Price

Rudene Price, affectionately known as "Rudy," was born in Paris, Texas to Earl and Louise Williams on December 21, 1945. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Rudene is preceded in death by her father, Earl Williams, mother, Louise Williams, and brothers James Earl Williams and Rufus Morgan. She received Christ at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas where she sang in the choir. She loved sharing the memory of getting dressed up to walk to church only to turn around several times to escort her pet pig back home who always followed her on Sunday mornings. She also became a part of a musical group named the "Octettes" and traveled to other cities and churches to perform. Rudene then united with St. Luke Baptist church under in Lubbock, Texas where she also sang in the choir. Finally, "Rudy" relocated to Richmond, Virginia and became an active member of Trinity Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving on the Health and Wellness Ministry until her health prevented her from participating.Rudene received her elementary, secondary and high school education from Littlefield Independent School District in Littlefield, Texas. Rudene attended Dunbar High School and was known for her sharp volleyball skills on the court. She maintained friendships with many of her classmates as she loved them dearly. She graduated with honors from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Rudene was employed by Methodist Hospital for 18 years and served as head nurse on her unit, she retired in 1985. If anyone wondered where Rudy was, the place to look was in the numerous nooks and crannies of her backyard gardens. She was passionate about working outdoors. Nothing brought her more pleasure than planting flowers and sitting on her deck to admire the beauty ofhercreations, Those of us who helped her know that her backyard had to be just right,.or she would start all over again. Rudene enjoyed making jewelry, painting rocks With inspirational messages to share with others, and completing all kinds of "DIY" projects. Rudy was a soft-spoken and classy lady who said what she meant and meant what she said; and people listened to her every word. She was kind, gentle, frank and very resourceful. She always said: "There is always something that can be done about anything." Her mindset made her relentless in her pursuit bf civic duties with_ the NAACP, Sisters .United Organization and other civic group where she advocated for young people to succeed. Rudene was formally married to Clyde Price and was blessed with 2 doting children, Steven Pripe and Sheri Staten; Richmond, VA, five loving grandchildren; Shamar Williams and Brittany Tobe, Lubbock, TX; Kavon Price, Wichita Falls, TX; Carroll Allen Price and Kierra Price-McLeod; Richmond, VA, and many beautiful great-grandchildren. Rudene leaves to cherish her memory; Brothers Wilmer Lee Williams, Roy, WA; Billy Morgan, Oklahoma City OK; sisters Arkie Jean Williams, Richmond, VA; Fannie Johnson, Lubbock, TX; nieces Chefitha Williams, Richmond, VA; Wasami Williams; Vilseck, Germany; nephew Chad Rice, Richmond, VA; sister-in-law Dr. Chiyuki Shannon, Roy,WA; son in-law Tyrone Staten, Richmond, VA, many precious great grand-children. great nieces and nephews, cousin Willie Lee Watkins, Dennison, TX; and several wonderful friends; Holbert Ray Costen, Lena Thomas, Ethel Lee, The Muse Family, Margaret Anderson, and many others.
