Elder Ruby Ester Walden

Alpha and Omega- Mother Ruby E. Walden Ruby Esther was born April 22,1921 in Harnett, County,N.C.to the late Mack and Callie McLean. This is where she received her education and "grew up." For a while she lived in Bronx,N.Y. where she was a faithful and loyal member of Mt. Sinai Church and served in the capacity of president of the missionary department,held office in the adult choir and was active in several of the church's auxiliaries. She approached her tasks and duties with great zeal,tenacity and efficiency. Her magnetic spirit and love for people and friends exuded over every one she met,thereby firmly establishing a solid relationship with members of the church and others with whom she met. She relocated to Richmond,Va. in 1984 and visited St. James UHC where Reverend Amanda Wilson was the pastor. She was impressed with her preaching of the Word and obeyed God's direction that this was the church she would work with. They immediately began to travel together and spread the gospel abroad. She eventually was ordained as Elder and did great work for the Lord. Upon the retirement of Pastor Wilson,she continued to serve as Associate Minister under the leadership of Elder Ellen J, Evans until God called her home. She was active in the Virginia District,functioning as an Evangelist,president of the Tidewater/Central District Union's missionary department,president of the Central District Ministers' Alliance and served as State Mother. She will be sorely missed by all whose life she touched. She claimed her heavenly wings unexpectedly on October 2, 2012 after a very brief illness.She always said,"I don't know how long I got here,but I am ready whenever He calls me. I don't have time to play." She was preceded in death by her husband. Cherishing her memory are: brother,Henry McLean;devoted nephew,Carson Gilbert;devoted cousin,Joan Walker,three children she raised,Lisa Czolocz(Walter),Nancy Banker and Marjorie Shachnow and a host of other cousins,nieces,nephews,relatives and friends. Gone But Not Forgotten Don't think of her as gone away,her journey has just begun Life holds so many facets,and this earth is only one Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears; In a place of warmth and comfort,where there are no days and years Think how she must be wishing that we could know today; How nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched; For nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.
