Ruby Lee Hamm

Ruby Lee Hamm was born August 7, 1944 in Elberton county, Georgia. She was the younger of two daughters of the late Lula and Howard James. She departed this life peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2002 at 4:45 p.m. Ruby has been ill for a long while, but she bore her illness well. After moving from Georgia to Baltimore, she married the late Hariles Hamm, Sr. Out of this union, four children were born; one daughter and three sons. Initially, this loving couple joined Fountain Baptist Church and later joined Ebenezer Church where they served God faithfully and lovingly. It was at Ebenezer Baptist Church they raised their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. In 1968 the Pastor and The Official Board as a deacon in training chose her husband. Later that year, he was ordained as a deacon of Ebenezer Baptist church. Ruby was also ordained as a Deaconess. She was a faithful and dedicated servant. Ruby was also a member of the Flower Circle and the Missionary Ministry. Ruby loved her family so much, not only her immediate family but the extended family as well. She would often invite everyone, family plus friends to her home for a tremendous meal. She would cook some of everything you name it, she cooked it. Her specialty was Sweet Potato Pie. She would use every pot, every pan, every bowl and utensil she had in the kitchen. When it came time to clean up the kitchen, a volunteer crew pitched in to clean it up Ruby had a soft spot in her heart for the sick. She would often visit the sick in their homes. Whatever needed to be done, she was willing to do it; she served them well. Certainly, she was one of God’s little Missionaries. She was fond of flowers and plants. She had lots of plants in her home and also had a little vegetable garden. Ruby had many friends and was always a good neighbor. She leaves a legacy of love and a deep abiding faith and dedication to her family and friends.She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Doris Jackson; three sons, Hariles Jr., Lloyd, and Hoyt; one sister, Elizabeth Parker; one son-in-law, William Jackson; two daughters-in-law, Grace Hamm and Lanka Hamm; eleven grandchildren, William D. Jackson, Kenneth Jackson, Michael Jackson, Carolyn brown, Lloyd Hamm, Jr., Sharon Hamm, Anthony Hamm, Valerie Richardson, Shelly Hamm, Sabrina Hamm and Terry Hicks; fourteen great-grandchildren, Katrina, Keisha, Kevin, Brian J., Christopher, Jonathan, Kristen, Shannon, Brandon, Michael, Brandy, Lynn’a, Brian R., and Patrick; two great-great-grandchildren, Sean and Darian; a host of other relatives and friends
