Roy Chester McQueen

Roy Chester McQueen son of the late Robert and Mary McDougald-McQueen was born on June 26, 1953 in Laurinburg North Carolina and sadly departed this life on April 19, 2024, while peacefully sleeping. Roy's educational journey began in the Baltimore Public School System where he excelled academically. He graduated with honors as the valedictorian of Edmondson Westside High School class of 1971. Roy cherished his children and adored his grandchildren, often bragging about them with pride. He took great joy in driving his grandchildren to and from school. Throughout his life, Roy held various jobs starting his first job at the young age of 12. He had a passion for driving tractor trailers until he retired from that field However his true passion lay in home improvement, which he worked until he was no longer able. Roy's love for his late wife, Donell McQueen of 43 years, was profound and enduring. He cherished spending time with family and friends, always accepting invitations and bringing laughter and wisdom ti every gathering. Roy had a gift for delivering lectures, encouraging everyone to strive for greatness and be the best version of themselves. His hard work ethic and dedication were truly remarkable. In his free time Roy enjoyed attending church, playing cards with his family and cheering on his beloved Baltimore Ravens and Orioles whenever they played. Roy warm heart and ability to touch everyone he met left an indelible mark on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roy leaves behind loving family to mourn his passing. He was preceded in the death by his devoted wife 43 years, Donell McQueen. His legacy lives on through his three children, Emeka, Candice, D'andre, and his twelve grandchildren Alexus, Samuel, D Andrea Jr. Damon, Destinee, Camar, Amira, Myah, Nevaeh, Heaven, Carron Jr. & Azariah (unborn). He is also survived by his brothers John and Tyrone McQueen brother in law Robert Hopewell and sisters in law Stella McQueen and Elaine Hopewell. His aunt Betty Mae McLean sons in law Nathaniel and DeWayne and a special friend Mr. Jackson, will also cherish his memory. Additionally, Roy extended family included a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts It is with heavy hearts that we remember the siblings who preceded him in death: Charlene James and Shelia
