Obituary “I Aspire To Inspire Before I Expire” Our beloved Roslyn Smith Trent, 69, born March 22, 1946 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Annie Elizabeth G. and Eugene Smith. She was called home to the pearly gates of heaven on December 2, 2015. She was preceded in death by her son, Terrence Hicks. She received her education from the Richmond Public School Systems where she attended Armstrong High School. After high school, she enlisted into the United States Army Reserve in 1973, the 80th Division serving her country proud. In 1974, she was employed by the City of Richmond as a Deputy Sheriff where she remained for 13 years. During that time she was promoted to work at the John Marshall Court Building in the Civil Processing Department. She furthered her career at Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center for eight years. Roslyn was an amazing person with a beautiful spirit who loved her family unselfishly. To know her, was to love her. She was a member of Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years, under the leadership of Dr. Roscoe Cooper, III, whom she received her spiritual guidance. She loved her church family and all they had to offer. She opened her arms, home and kitchen to everyone who entered her doors. She always said, “She never met a stranger that she didn’t accept”. She leaves to cherish her memory two caring daughters, Ramona Trent and Brandy Ballard; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Eulas Gaddy (Effie); sister-in-law; Janie Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends. Don’t Don’t spend too much time in mourning, tears are for the sad. I left to be with Jesus and this should make you glad. Don’t waste your hours in grieving, no need to feel distressed, I was tired of life’s frustrations and had to get some rest. Don’t vex yourself with questions or try to reason why, for you will see me by and by. Don’t lose the love I gave you, feed it with your care, grow it with devotion and spread it everywhere. Don’t fret because my leaving came in such a way. We’ll have another meeting in God’s eternal day. Author Unknown
