Roslyn Cox Thomas

Legacy of Life “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die…” John 11:25-26 Our beloved, Roslyn Cox Thomas was born June 28, 1952 to the late Annie L Cox and Emmanuel Cox in Chesterfield, Virginia. She was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Richmond Virginia and later attended J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College earning her Associates Degree in Business Management. Roslyn accepted Christ at a very young age. She was baptized into the Mt. Olive Baptist Church family on Bells Road along with her mother, sister, many cousins, aunts and uncles. Later in life, she became a member of Christ Alternative Church alongside her husband, Frank. Roslyn married the love of her life, Franklin R. Thomas Jr., on February 12, 1983 and together they raised Leander, their son. Roslyn was a dedicated, well- loved and respected employee of the City of Richmond’s Department of Social Services for over 25 years. Her co-workers affectionately knew her as “the fly lady downstairs”, or “cheetah girl” because she was known for being stylish in her signature Cheetah animal print. To know Roz, as she was best known, was to do nothing less than to love her. Her stylish and classy demeanor demanded nothing but respect and she most definitely received that from everyone that knew her. Roslyn loved to get out and enjoy life. She was very active in her community, participating in day trips as well as the community parties and she absolutely loved having her periodic luncheons and get togethers with her family and friends. Roslyn was an extraordinary person and an amazingly devoted mother who LOVED her son and her grandchildren with all that she had. Roslyn was preceded in death by her mother, Annie L. Cox; father, Emmanuel Cox; husband, Franklin R. Thomas Jr.; sister, Brenda L. Davis; brothers-in-law, Richard L. Davis and Ralph Thomas. She is survived by her one and only loving and devoted son, Leander E. Cox; cherished daughter in law, Delshawn Arrington Cox; 10 loving grandchildren, Leander Blackwell, Christopher Cox, Jamie Cox, Kristen Cox, Brandon Cox, Leandra Cox, Johan Cox, Jasean Cox, Jocques Arrington and Jaquan Jefferson; 14 beautiful great grand kids; devoted sisters-in-law, Rita Arrington and Barbara Jackson; devoted nieces, Tanya Davis, Lashanda Coward, LaTia Chappelle, Tiara Davis, Latia Thomas-Brown; devoted nephew, Vernon Thomas-Plummer; loving sisters, Ronnie Cox and Mia Cox; brother, Emmanuel Cox Jr.; cherished friends, Columbia Bridges, Loretta Jackson, Ursula (Bunny) Sutherlin and Doreatha Jones; as well as other relatives and friends who adored her.
