Rosie Lee Cousins

Our Father, who art in Heaven called Rosie Lee Cousins, born April 11th, 1930, home to glory on February 17th, 2021. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Rosie was the last surviving sibling of the marriage between Furrie Lee Cousins, Sr. and Sally Cousins and leaves a legacy of her love. Rosie received her formal education through the Baltimore City School System graduating from Dunbar High. Consistently working several jobs, a day, she was very diligent about supporting her family. Her hard work and determination resulted in her position as a Nurses Aid/Lab Technician for the Johns Hopkins University Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine Department. Her Department was responsible for the many scientific studies and surgical procedures that continue to save lives today. Rosie received several prestigious outstanding achievement and recognition awards during her 32-Year tenure with Johns Hopkins University/Hospital where she later retired in 1995. Rosie (Miss Rose) was that person who would help any and everybody. With her open-heart open-door policy, you were always invited. Whether you needed a place to stay, a sandwich, clean clothes or even a couple of dollars, (Miss Rosie) was there for you. Rosie, that mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, shared many words of wisdom that often got you through difficult times like; “Give it to God; You can have anything in life you want if you work for it; Pray about it; Time with your children is special–value it, you can’t get it back; You are favored; Give me my roses while I’m alive.” Rosie loved going to Broadway plays, shopping trips, rare steak and strawberry shortcake. She was always happy to talk about her porcelain dolls and teapot collection. She also had a particularly good memory and could tell you many stories about her childhood, her first day of school, and the name of the person who were there. Rosie was strong and proud. She was preceded in death by sons, Ronald and Randolph; sisters, Mary, Clara and Lena; brothers, Furrie Lee, Jr. and Lawrence; and stepmother, Lemie. Rosie leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Linda Cousins, Sherry Cousins-Massie, and Phyllis Cousins; sons, Vernon and Jerome Parker; sons-in-law, Miles Bright and Paul Massie; daughter-in-law, Deborah Parker; sisters, Connie, Patricia, Diane and Shelia; over 50+ grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends that will miss her dearly.
