Rosetta Morton

Rosetta Morton affectionately known as Ms. Rose, daughter of the late Mary James Turner and adopted by the late Calving (Pap) Turner was born August 25, 1937. She departed this life peacefully on December 28, 2024, into the loving arms of Jesus after a lengthy illness. Rose received her early education in Rock Hill, South Carolina Public Schools. Following a move to Maryland, she completed her high school education at Sollers Point High School in Baltimore. She would later work for the Baltimore County Public School System and later transferred to the City of Baltimore Public School Food Administration until she retired. Rose loved the Lord and devoted her entire life to serving Him. She was a long-standing member of Friendship Baptist Church in Turner Station, Maryland where she remained a faithful member until she could no longer attend due to illness. Rose was also a member of the Eastern Star. With unwavering strength and a strong moral compass, Rose was a devoted mother to six children. She navigated life with love, hope, determination, essential building blocks, and a smile that always shined. She gave 100 percent to everything she did, even if it was just a gentle hug. She loved people, especially children. She was a kind, beautiful mother and woman who would feed anyone. She loved to cook, and her Sunday dinners were always on point. Her food was so good that somebody slapped somebody every week. She could bake like it was coming from the local bakery. The sweet potato pies and the cakes were without question, just lip smacking. Everything she cooked was done with a labor of love. Another of her talents was she loved plants and flowers and only needed a piece of a root to grow anything. Her favorite color was red, and she styled it when she walked and in her home. She was the beauty of life without compromising anything. She was an example of God’s promise to love each other. Even in sickness she never gave up. She just wanted to love her family and show love. Mom would say to us if you have to cry, cry happy memories of the untiring love we shared together every day as a family. On December 28th, 2024, at 1pm, God saw her suffering and in His loving way decided to send angels to escort her to her heavenly home. He said to His daughter, “Well done, My good and faithful servant. ” She leaves behind beautiful memories and a firm foundation to carry on her legacy of love. She leaves six children: Joseph Turner, Jimmy Turner, Laura Crapper, Reginald Spence, Jerome Spence (Maria), and Jerry Spence. One brother Alexander Turner, two sisters Carrie Gilmore and Emma Mayfield. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Two brothers preceded her in death: John Henry Turner and Willie Ed Turner.
