Rosetta Olivia McQuay Dabney

Rosetta Olivia McQuay Dabney was born May 17, 1939 to the late Mary McQuay in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brother James McQuay. She attended Armstrong High School in the Richmond Public School System. At a young age, she accepted Christ and began her spiritual journey at St. Johns Holiness Church where her grandfather was the pastor. Later becoming a member of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church for many years. She later transferred her membership to St. Paul’s Baptist Church and was a member for the last twelve years. She loved to go to church on Sunday and worship the Lord. She made sure that she read her bible because she wanted to know the word. A Time to Care . . .Rosetta was educated as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and had a deep love for elderly. She provided care in her home for many many years. She always wanted to make everyone happy and comfortable. God graced her with a loving spirit that she shared with everyone. Our beloved was the ultimate measure of a woman of grace, integrity, intelligence and passion of love as a wife and mother. She had an open heart that most could only hope to emulate. A Time to Love . . .The true love of her life besides her children was her husband Melvin of thirty-eight glorious and wonderful years. A Woman to Remember . . . She was a very generous and a true person. Rosetta kept her life simple and wasn’t looking to be out front. She preferred to operate behind the scene not seeking recognition or praise for her kindness and generosity. Rosetta had a love of people and compassion that could not be measured. Besides having a great sense of humor, she always shared kind and welcoming words. A Time to Reflect . . . Our loved one was the ultimate measure of a woman which is not where one stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where she stood in a time of challenge and controversy. Rosette knew there was a path that she had to choose and a cross that she had to bear, but that she was not going to walk alone because her God was there! A Time to Mourn Tears of Joy and Cherished Memories . . . Rosetta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend that became the next chosen angel of our heavenly father. She was accepted into the gates of heaven on August 28, 2017, leaving behind to cherish her memory, devoted and beloved husband, Melvin Dabney, two loving daughters, Merle Hill and Cynthia Thompson (Tillman); three caring sons, Walter Ampey Jr., Keith D. Ampey and Wayne C. Ampey; two beloved step-children, Shannon Dabney Dees (Carlos) and Melvin Dabney, Jr. (Cheryl), 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends, one special friend, Ruby. Her legacy will continue to live on in all that knew her.
