Rosa Mary Ford

“The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want” Psalms 23:1Rosa Mary Harrison Ford was born on September 29, 1922 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was the youngest of thirteen children born to the late Bawley and Maryann Harrison. On July 21, 2006, while sleeping, she was peacefully called to be with the Lord. Before departing this life, Rosa was one of two surviving children.Rosa received her education in the public school system of Rocky Mount, N.C. In 1939, she relocated to Baltimore, MD with her brother and sister-in-law, James and Arggie Harrison. At a young age, Rosa became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, N.C. After relocating to Baltimore, she attended various churches.Rosa was a dedicated employee of Continental Can Company/Crown Cork and Seal from which she retired after more than 35 years of service as a forklift operator.Rosa was married to the late Robert Ford. While she was blessed to have two children, her heart and home were always open to family members and friends. Anyone who spent time with Rosa grew to love her. A kind-hearted, affectionate, and warm-spirited person, she touched many lives. She loved all people and especially children.Her loved ones affectionately called her “Aunt Ro”.Grand gave of herself, her time, and her resources unselfishly. She loved to cook. Her favorite food was fried chicken and she loved “sweets”. Aunt Ro was an avid bowler until her health prevented her from participating in the league. She enjoyed watching soap operas and solving “word search” puzzles.Rosa will be deeply missed and leaves to cherish her memory: two children; Colleen Harrison-Hart and Paul Ford of Wilmington, Delaware; six grandchildren, CoLynn, Desmona, Tavanya, LaWann, Paul and Sharon; ten great grandchildren, Megan, Anthony, Chetor, Naya, Darrell, Comillus, Charles, Marquis, Diamond, and Desmond; one devoted brother, James Harrison, Sr., one loving sister-in-law, Arggie Harrison; one son-in-law, Frederick Hart; one daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Ford; a loving devoted niece Sylvia Shields, devoted nieces and nephew, Geraldine, Gladys, Ann, and James, longtime devoted friend, Katherine Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
