Rosa B. Griffith

ROSA BIRDA GRIFFITH was born in Gloucester, Virginia on April 7, 1928 the thirteenth of fourteen children to the late Philloyd and Rosa (Carter) Tillman. On that day they were greeted with two babies, Rosa’s twin brother, the late Robert Thomas “Buck” Tillman. Rosa was educated in Baltimore City Public School System. Rosa as a young child was baptized with her mother’s supervision, but with her four sons in the early 70”s jointed New Elizabeth Baptist Church. Rosa remained a member until the Holly Spirit told her to go and be a blessing to the Body of Christ. Rosa was married to the late Fred Alvin Griffith for 36 years until his death on May 1, 1989 out of that union they had four sons, Robin, Ricky, Ronnie and Ray. Rosa loved her family and her boys were the world to her. Rosa was known for her can do attitude, she never said no to a challenge or to help someone. Rosa was a volunteer with Levindale Nursing Home, a volunteer with Season’s Hospice, Foster Grandparents, and when her children were little she was PTSA President, Representative for Title-One Schools, advisor of the Junior Ushers at New Elizabeth Baptist Church, member of the Senior Ushers of New Elizabeth Baptist Church and Manger of the Griffith Special Gospel Group. Rosa had been a member of several fraternal organizations, United Order of Tents, Inc. and Order of Eastern Stars, Myrna Grand Chapter of MD. Rosa loved to cook, preparing her famous garden salad that always looked too good to eat. She was a no fuss type of person, always recognizing and speaking about the glory of GOD. Always ready to give you a scripture to help or comfort. Rosa was also know for the very elegant hats she wore. Although small in stature, she had a big heart, listening ear, kind word, and that precious smile for everyone. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Alvin Griffith; parents, Philloyd and Rosa (Carter) Tillman; siblings, Melvin Tillman, Myrtle and Robert Tillman. She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Robin, Ricky, Ronnie and Ray; daughter-in-law, Caroline, Rosie, Rachel, Towanda, and Sandra; grandchildren, Robin Jr., Ricky Jr., Ronnie Jr., Randy, Quiana, Shanelle and Shanee, Tiffany, Darian, Christopher, Terrance, Tiana, Briana, Craig and Serena; grandson-in-law, Dominic Jenkins-Milligan; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; godchildren, Tamera R., Temera B., Tanya, Mary, Deon and Shanae; a host of nieces and nephews.
