Rosa Mae Collins

Rosa Mae Jackson Collins affectionately called Sister by her husband and Baby Sis by her family was born on August 9,1951 in Varina,Virginia to the late,Arthur Price Jackson,Sr. and Nellie Mae Hawkes Jackson. She was raised and educated in the Henrico Public School System. On Monday,May 6,2013,God closed the book of life of our loved one. She was an active member of the City of Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where she was baptized in Jesus name during her early years. She received the Holy Ghost,under the leadership of Bishop Algenor Johnson. Rosa was a licensed missionary,President of the Ministers' and Deacons' Wives Guild, and a member of the Women Council. One of Rosa's first roles in the church was the usher board,where she greeted everyone so genuinely. She opened the doors with such joy and provided assurance to everyone that this was the place to be,if you wanted to feel the presence of the Lord. Some of her hobbies included reading her Bible,cooking,spending time with her family and shopping. Once the shopping was finished she would relax in the beautician chair to always look her best. Out of all these hobbies,her favorite pass time was talking on the phone where the conversation would center on the goodness of the Lord and diabetes. Rosa's employment tenure concluded with Henrico County School System as dedicated employee for twenty years. She was known,loved and respected throughout the community.She had a BIG HEART and her family was her joy. She was united in holy matrimony to Alphonso Collins,Sr. for 40 years. This union brought together three wonderful children,one which preceded her in death(Alphonso Collins,Jr.).She was also preceded in death by her parents,Arthur Price Jackson,Sr. and Nellie Mae Hawkes Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory,a loving and devoted husband,Elder Alphonso Collins,Sr.;two daughters,LaTanya and LaTasha Collins;one grandson,Christopher Collins;one sister;Evelyn (Patsy) Bryant;five brothers;Henry Watson(Bernice),Joseph Timberlake,Sr.,Tommie Jackson(Sarah),Arthur (Sugarman)Jackson,Jr.,Isaac(Ike)Jackson;one aunt,Gladys(Vic) Crump. Through marriage,she has two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law;Onzie(Cookie)Luke,Cecil Collins,John Luke,Jr.(Brenda) and Bernard Collins which preceded her in death and a host of other relatives and friends.
