Rosa B. Myers

Myers daughter of the late Sylvester and Eleanor Holmes was born on July 13, 1939 and departed this life on October 20, 2001 at 1:30 P.M. in Union Memorial Hospital. Rosa was born in Denmark, South Carolina and was a member of the Springfield A.M.E. Church where she accepted Christ at an early age. Rosa was educated in the Voorhees Public School System in Denmark, South Carolina. In 1958 as a young adult, along with her family, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Upon arrival Rosa began worshiping under the leadership of her brother, the late Reverend Otis C. Holmes, Pastor and founder of the Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church. After the death of her brother and pastor she then became a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryland where she attended until her health began to fail. In 1965 Rosa was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Raymond Myers and in 1995 celebrated 30 years of marriage. Rosey, as her family and friends affectionately knew her, was loved by all. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, one-of-a-kind grandmother, a good sister and loving friend. Along with being a “pillar of strength” to her family, Rosa was always willing to lend a “helping hand” or a “shoulder to lean on” to everyone that came in contact with her. Employed by the Little Sisters of the Poor she retired after 36 years of dedicated service. Rosey, was a dependable and pleasant person who brought a smile to everyone she knew and met. She will be surely missed by all. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving son and daughter, Algie Holmes and Theresa Holmes; two grandchildren, Eric A. Glover and Angel Renee Holmes; five step-grandchildren; one brother, Ollie Holmes; one sister, Georgia Clark; three sisters and ten brothers preceded her in death; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Myers; seven brothers-in-law, nine sisters-in-law, fifty-seven nieces and nephews; ninety-seven great-nieces and nephews; three godchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
