Ronnie Hugh McKay, Sr.

Ronnie H. McKay, Sr. son of late John H. McKay and Rosa L. McKay was born in Sanford, North Carolina on April 7, 1956. He was the youngest son of the nine siblings. Shortly after his birth Ronnie and his family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where he resided until he was summoned to Heaven on Monday March 20, 2017, at 9:25 pm.. He received his education at Baltimore City College High School and went to continue his education at Morgan State University where he pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated in 1977. After Morgan State, he married the love of his life, Michelle (Grimm) McKay. They were ,married for 35 years and during that time they had three beautiful children, Ronnie knew he would marry the love of his life He told everyone he would marry Michelle and have three children: two sons and a daughter, That is certainly what happened! Ronnie was member of New Second Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized under the leadership of Dr. Reverend Fulton Williams, Jr. He faithfully served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Youth Leader and member of MSB Ensemble. Ronnie became a member of Prince Hall Corinthian Lodge #62. Ronnie was man who wore many hats. Out of college he worked on the B&O Railroad and Chessie System as a conductor, brakeman and engineer for 9 years he transitioned to the Maryland State Government where he received many certifications. Such as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional, Certified Associate Counselor 3 (CAC-AD) Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists-Alcohol and Drug Level IV, Howard County Health Department and Harford County Health Department just to name a few. He also served as a Representative of AFSCME. His last position prior to retirement was in Investigator for Child Protective Services. During his 27 years. Of service Ronnie pursued and completed his Masters of Human Services at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Ronnie enjoyed life, among his favorite pursuits was fishing, singing, and Greek stepping. He is preceded in death by two brothers, John McKay, Sr. Daniel Lee Roscoe McKay.; and three sisters, Ardette Mitchell, Marie Wiggins and Glenda Traore. He is survived by: his devoted wife, Michelle McKay: two sons, Ronnie H. McKay, Jr (Heather), and Dominique S. McKay, Sr. (Shikia) one daughter, Danielle (Brandon) McKay; two granddaughters, Dyeceona D. McKay and Aliyah M. McKay, and one expected grandson Dominique S. McKay, Jr. one brother Adrian C. (Venus) McKay; two sisters, Tira (Rienzi) Lewis and Wilma Faye (Michael) Grimm a special niece, Sharmane Grimm and a special nephew Jamie Grimm; one godson, Bruce Jones, Jr. a special granddaughter, Dayteona Myers; mother-in-law Martha E. Williams (Baltimore, MD;one aunt, Reverend Martha Davis (Fayetteville, N.C.) three brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends. Ronnie was also a mentor to many nieces and nephews.
