Obituary A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is still A place is vacant in our hearts that never can be filled. Ronald Craddock Sr., age 61, returned to his heavenly home peacefully on October 17, 2015. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his life and ultimately gave him sweet peace. He was preceded in death by his sister Lisa Craddock. Ronald was born to John Craddock, a truck driver, and Sarah Gladys Craddock, a child care provider in Charles City County, Virginia on August 25, 1954. He was born into a God-fearing household that would become his foundation at an early age. He was raised with his 3 siblings(Lisa, Larry, and Kenny Craddock), attended Huguenot High School, and from there went on to work for Phillip Morris for almost 40 years as a mechanical technician. It was there that he was loved, and affectionately known by many as “Doc.” Ronald was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his life Edith Cotman on November 16th 1978 in Charles City County, and from that beautiful union they were blessed with three children- Joey, Junior and Jade. He loved spending time with all of his family, and took pride in cooking big meals for the whole family to enjoy. His family affectionately called him “The Professor” because he loved to learn new things and shared everything he learned with all of his loved ones. He had a genuine affection for all people, and never met a stranger. Ronald was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. If someone was in need, not only would he give you the shirt off his back, but he would go out and buy you 10 more shirts, just to make sure you had everything you needed. He just had a generous spirit like that. He was an encourager to everyone he met, and tried to bring out the best in everyone. Ronald’s faith and his family meant the world to him, as him and his family were faithful members of Little Elam Baptist Church. It was there that he served several positions, namely deacon, money counter, Sunday School & Bible School teacher, and member of the Budget and Finance Committee and his recent membership in the Bradby Memorial Choir. When he wasn’t serving others, he liked to race his cars, take long road trips, and relax on Sunday’s by watching his Redskins play with his son. He enjoyed his retirement and being able to spend more time with his family, and wanted nothing more than to show God’s love to others, be the best father he could be to his children, and the very best provider and husband to his wife, soulmate, and best friend Edith. Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Edith Craddock, three caring children, Joey Martinez, (Sylvia), Ronald Craddock Jr., and Jade Craddock; one adored grandchild, Ronald Craddock III; loving parents, John and Sarah Craddock. He was, and still is loved by many others, including brothers, Kenny and Larry Craddock; aunt, Jeanette Atkins; sisters-in-law, Christine Bradby, Gladys Hawkins (Marvin) and Patricia Janes (Lonnie); brother-in-law, James Cotman; his best friend, Pickle Williams; godchildren, Selena and Sonya Owens, and a host of nieces and nephews.
