Ronald E. Boyce, Sr

REV. RONALD EDWARD BOYCE, SR., the eldest son of the late Naomi Boyce Carter and the late Lawrence Carter (stepfather )was called to his Heavenly home on February 26, 2014. On February 10, 19149 God blessed Naomi with a very special birthday package. Ronnie as he was affectionately called was born on his Mother's birthday. Ronnie was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. He followed his Mother's footsteps and became a proud graduate of Dunbar High School's Class of 1968. After graduation, he took advantage of an opp unity offered to him and became one of the “ first” African American Telephone Installers for C & P Telephone Company. Later, he gained employment with the State of Maryland Department of Corrections. He retired as a major in 2006 after 36 years of dedicated service On February 14, 1981, he joined in holy matrimony to his companion and friend, Jeannetta Boyce. From this union, they were blessed with a blended family of a daughter, Raquel Boyce and two sons, Ronald Boyce. Ronnie demonstrated his faith and love for Our heavenly Father throughout his life . He had an abiding and committed relationship with God. He began his journey into the ministry at the Memorial Baptist Church under the guidance of the late Angus A. Smith. In 1977, he received his license to preach and became an ordained minister in 1981. Ronnie was a member of new Baptist Church and served as as Associate Minister under the leadership. Rev. Macie O. Tillman, pastor Ronnie was a dedicated family man. His family was important to him. He loved people and made friends whenever he went. He loved to talk and make his family /friends Laugh. As licensed barber, he had many family and friends who were his clients. It was a great way for him to capture your attention and hold you hostage in his barber's chair. Also, a great way to minister to those who needed to know that God always knows best. Ronnie was an avid sportsman. He played football at Dunbar Sr. High school, as well as, Semi-Pro Football with the Hanover Rhinos. He coached for the Mary Dobkins Football League and, he was the founder of the Crusaders Bowling Club in 1981. Ronnie was known among the bowling community as “Candyman”. In April 2011, he received his 25 year plague for participating twenty five consecutive years in the USBC Open Championship Tournament. Ronnie kept his family close together with prayer first and bowling second. Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jeannetta Boyce; three children, Raquel, Ronnie, Jr. (Mary) and Rodney Boyce; his brother, Thomas Dawkins, Jr. (Joyce); five grandchildren, DeRon, Jazmyn, Alexhandria, Ahdrianna Boyce and Jordan Merritt, Three sister-n-laws, six brother-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and devoted caregiver and sister-in-law, Deborah Brickus.
