Robyn C. Wilson

ROBYN CHARISSE WILSON (NEE BARR) was born December 8, 1964, at Sinai Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland to Annie Mae (Ann) Taylor and the late Robert L. Barr. Robyn went to live with the Lord as she silently passed away the morning of October 22, 2016. She lived with metastic breast cancer for four years, fighting the good fight without complaining and staying positive despite her illness. When asked "Robyn, how you doin?" She would answer..."Okay for now. Robyn was an only child to Ann. Growing up she loved to be outdoors doing adventurous things, always looking at what life had to offer and what was it all about. She was a deep thinker and somewhat of an introvert. She never met a stranger because she had a pleasing personality. She laughed heartily if ideas were not agreed on when discussing topics with family and friends. She realized and accepted that differences in everyone and everything, is what life is all about. She kept it real however, sometimes holding on to her own beliefs. She loved to learn and became wise beyond her years. Her favorite color was purple (long before the Ravens came to Baltimore) and Janet Jackson was her celebrity idol. She loved all types of music (Gospel, Rap, and R&B). She loved to dance and could learn a line dance by just watching a few minutes and then she had the moves. Robyn was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. She attended elementary in Cherry Hill while living with her devoted Aunt Carrie while her single Mom, Ann, worked two jobs. During that time, she attended Sunday school and was baptized at First Baptist Church. Robyn loved church activities and during a hospital visit around the Easter holiday she began quoting a poem she recited when she was a child. She loved the Lord, but stated that she goes to Jesus in prayer who is her interceptor. Robyn studied the Bible and loved and accepted her Lord and Jesus Christ. She left Cherry Hill and came to live with her mother where she attended Dickey Hill Elementary School and then went on to Middle School at Rock Glen. Robyn graduated in 1982 from Western High School and attended Bowie State University for three years after her high school graduation. Robyn was employed at Becton Dickinson for over twenty-five years. Her work ethic was top notch. Her knowledge and skills went beyond what was expected of her. She often stated that employees in any career position that did less than was expected were "Slackers," While employed at BD she was often sought to handle problem situations that no one else could solve. She had a love of indoor and outdoor sports. In high school she was on the badminton and volley teams. At BD she joined the baseball team. The team didn't win many games, but Robyn would enjoy the sport and the camaraderie. Robyn met Robert Wilson in 1990. They married at the Town Court House in 1997. While Ann wanted a bigger wedding ceremony, Robyn always realistic, thought it a waste of money. Robyn and Robert did not have children, but Bruno, their pet dog kept them just as devoted and busy. Robyn liked little children. She liked to talk with them and watch them as they moved about. She found wonder in their actions and what they said. She never wanted children of her own because as she said ..."It would be too much pain and too costly." And she could not stand to be in pain nor spend money unwisely. She was glad Robert already had children and that he could cook. Robyn's culinary skills was mediocre...she knew it and wore it proudly. Robyn lived a rich life. She had persons in her life that gave her strength, courage and compassion (her Mother Ann, Aunt Carrie, Grandmother Anna Handy), wise counsel (Stepfather David Ross-deceased), life skills (Special Aunts Janice, Tina, Clara, Jerri, Chris and Uncle Victor who taught her how to drive). As a young child she had her cousin Donna to teach her what having a sister would be like. When asked if she missed having siblings, Robyn would say "NO, except when things go wrong or get broken in the house I don't have anyone else to blame." She leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband, Robert (Wilson; her mother, Ann Taylor-Ross; sister, Robin Reed; sisters-in-law (Emily, Carol, Clara), four brothers-in-law (Alfonso, Cleveland, Joseph, Elijah), two stepsons (Robbie, Jr. and James-deceased) one stepdaughter (Queenie), four aunts (Vivian, Edna, Carrie and Mimi)) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and ex-coworkers.
