Robiesenia Hamlin

ROBIESENIA KIRVEN HAMLIN, affectionately known as “Rob,” was the daughter of the late King Dundee and Wilhemenia Ervin (stepfather Alton Ervin, Sr.). She was born on April 27, 1932 in Darlington, South Carolina where she attended Matta Academy High School. She came to Baltimore in 1951 and united with her husband of 54 years (Benjamin Hamlin, Sr.) on December 13, 1952. While in Baltimore she attended Morgan State University. Robiesenia worked many years in the Accounts Receivable Department at the Hilton Hotel, and for the Sun Life Insurance Company. Rob was an Avon Representative for over 40 years. Robiesenia departed this earthly life on January 28, 2007.“Rob” accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She has been a faithful member of Pennsylvania A.M.E. Zion since 1956 until her health no longer allowed her to attend worship service. She was an active member in the Senior Brigades, South Carolina Club, the Missionary Society, and the Parent Club.“Rob” found consolation in this scripture:“Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I willfear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)“Rob” gave herself freely to many even though she endured many struggles in life. Cooking was one of her many hobbies. Her sweet potato pies, raisin cakes, and banana pudding will fill many hearts with sweet memories for years to come.Robiesenia was a devoted woman of God and truly a woman of excellence, who is survived by: her profoundly devoted and dedicated husband of 54 years, Benjamin F. Hamlin, Sr.; two daughters, Deborah and Michelle; three adopted daughters, Nicole, Cookie, and Jamica; two sons, Benjamin, Jr. and Michael (Sonya); one adopted son, Asha (from Africa); three grandchildren Deidra, Napoleon, Jr., and Jordan; three adoptive grandchildren, Jade, Korey , and Jamel; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn, and Sydney; five sisters, Moronda, Moretta, Charlene, and the late Gloria and Bonnie Ruth; three brothers, Laverne, Alton, Jr., and the late Pearlie Dundee; three brothers-in-law, James Lee, Rufus, and Leroy; seven sisters-in-law, Irene, Fostine, Bert, Lillie, Ethel, Ada, and Beverly; and life long friends, Glenda, Aaron, Louise, Lula Mae, the Johnson Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.Robiesenia will be well missed. Her display of love and acts of kindness and generosity towards her family and her acquaintances will continually live in our hearts.
