Robert Elton Wiggins

Robert Elton Wiggins, (73), was born September 2, 1942 to the late Gerome Wiggins and Pattie Day Wiggins in Halifax, North Carolina. The Lord called him home to the gates of heaven on June 29, 2016. He is preceded in death by Elizabeth T. Wiggins, his wife of 32 years and a sister, Mozelle Turnage. Robert, affectionately known as “Bubba” had a strong work ethic. He believed that if you didn’t work you didn’t eat. He was a pride-filled man. Bubba often said it’s not what you wear, but how you wear it — with style and grace. People said they could spot Robert a mile away. Not because they recognized his facial features, but his walk and stride was that of a very confident man. He loved his family more than life itself. Their friends were an extension of his family. Bubba was a very straightforward man. He was a man of few words until he got to know you. Once he got to know you, he would talk trash to you, about you and with you, at the same time. Not with intentions to hurt, but to enlighten a spirit of truth. When Robert found the Lord he was exuberant. He felt that God did not give up on him despite his past. He often reminded his children that if God could change his life, then you should follow God. He loved the Lord, his church family and being part of the body of Christ. During his lifetime, he dedicated his time, talent, and tithes with equal pride to three churches of which he was a member. He stood firm in the belief that he was giving unto the Lord. He held a special servanthood to his church. United Christian Fellowship affectionately called him Pops. Bubba deemed himself an armor bearer to the pastor and the first lady. His conviction to protecting them was unwavering, “Nobody better not mess with my pastor or first lady or they have to deal with me.” Although, Robert is no longer physically among us, he has deposited a part of himself and impacted every life that he touched. The tears will continue to fall for a while because daddy was daddy; Bubba was Bubba; and Jones was Jones. But we find peace and solace in the fact that he has reunited with his love in the atmospheric sky box overlooking their lineage and smiling down upon us. He leaves to cherish his sweet memories four daughters, Barbara Jean Gill, Darshell Wiggins, Stacie Wiggins Hunter (devoted, Kevin) and Bethany Wiggins; seven grandchildren, two devoted, Kennedy Elizabeth-Clarke Hunter and Kameron Elton Marcelle Wiggins; three brothers, Rudolph Wiggins, Larry Wiggins (Lillie) and Thomas Wiggins (Carolyn); four sisters, Daisey Dickens, Delores Epps, Carolyn Hawkins and Priscilla Hawkins (Royal “Jay”); sister-in-law, Pearl Wingfield; devoted nephew, Marty Wiggins for your ultimate support; devoted sister-in-law, Jeanette Tolliver; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
