The Lord is near.Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding,will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Our hearts are deeply saddened by the unfortunate home calling of our beloved Robert “Trent” Curry. Though our days are growing longer with the grieving of our loss, our souls can rejoice in his grace because our beloved is resting in His hands. We should thank God for the time that we a shared with Trent; by God’s will he is free from the suffering, pain, and despair. He joined our heavenly father on the night of November 28, 2009.Because he was a humble and faithful servant of God, his inner strength has served as an inspiration to all that knew him.Robert Trent Curry was born May 2,1957;the oldest son to Robert Lee Curry and Dorothy Brown Curry, both of Kannapolis,North Carolina. Trent attended and graduated from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, North Carolina. In 1979, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winston-Salem State University. Trent was a loyal member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He also served as President of the Richmond Metro Chapter of the Alumni Association from 1992 to 1996. He was also a lifetime member of Winston-Salem State University National Alumni Association. Prior to moving to Richmond, Virginia, Trent was a member of Marable Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. A very influential voice within the community, he was a very hardworking man that did everything in his power to provide for his family. Trent was last employed with Performance Food Group Virginia Foodservice as an inside sales representative until early 2009.Trent loved being surrounded by his family and friends.His outgoing personality and general outlook on life will forever leave a mark in our hearts.He will forever be remembered as a strong inspiring husband,father, son, brother, grandfather, friend and co-worker.Instead of dwelling on time lost,we should do as he would want us to and cherish the memories of the times spent with this devoted wife of eleven years.Our beloved is survived by his wife, Shelby Curry; daughters, Lakisha Alexander (Nykema), Trentney Curry; grandchildren, Porche and Paris Parks, AJ Merriman, Kyemeric,India and Daijah Alexander; mother,Dorothy Brown Curry; father, Robert Lee Curry (Sadie);mother-in-law, Cilla K. Peters; brothers,Lee Marvin “Tim” Curry (Suzette), Alan Scott Curry, Aaron Curry; sisters,Joan Smith,Margaret “Gigi” Curry-Lamb (Anthony),Robin Lynette Curry and Tia Curry;brother-in-law, Denard Smith Sr.;aunts, Ida Long, Deloris (James) Murdock, Senella Outen, Adlaid Barnes and Ruth Curry; uncles, James Brown and Paul Curry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,other relatives and friends.
