Robert L. Smith

ROBERT LEE SMITH, JR., son of Lottie Smith and the late Robert L. Smith, Sr., was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on January 10, 1946. He departed this life on December 24, 2001 after a lengthy illness. Bobby, or “Junior,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his education in New York at the Mount Vernon High School and completed his education at the The Elizabeth Seton College also in New York. He was the oldest of three children, his siblings were James Smith, Sr. and Delores “Poochie” Steele. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1996. His professional experience was that of a Computer Specialist and he was employed with Tate Access Floors as a Supervisor. As a professional photographer, he proudly photographed family events, friends and many celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Nelson Mandela, Heavy D, Cicely Tyson and Debbie Allen to name just a few. He also enjoyed the experience of traveling to West Africa, Trinidad, New Orleans, the Bahamas, Texas, Arizona, etc. In Greenbergh, New York, he met Ms. Lynn Metz and the two engaged in holy matrimony on April 8, 1996. From this union two daughters were born, Michelle and Melissa. Per Mrs. Lynn Smith, she and her husband shared thirty-five (35) happy years of Wedded Bliss. Bobby was a devoted husband, loving father and good son. He was very family oriented. His family was important to him. Although he was a shy person, he could also be humorous and a cautious observer of his children’s needs. Bobby was so protective that he would write down the license plate or driver’s license number of anyone who dated his daughters. He was also a wise parent an developed his children to be mature, well mannered individuals and provided them with insight for their spiritual, financial and emotional development. He loved his daughter Michelle and prepared her to help to head the family, and he also loved Melissa whom he affectionately referred to as “Daddy’s little girl.” He loved his wife and mother and strived to make them all happy as he provided for their needs. He also adored Bernice Neal “Aunt Bunny: and appreciated her companionship and diligent assistance as a caretaker in his home. His love will be truly missed by his family. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Lynn Smith; daughters, Michelle Smith Warner and Melissa Smith; son-in-law, Patrick Warner; tow grandchildren, Reginald and Arielle; two nephews, James Smith, Jr. and Michael Dejarnett; Aunt Bunny; and a host of family and friends
