Robert Lee Knight Sr.

Journey of Life Robert L. Knight, Sr, the son of the late Norman & Evelyn Knight was born on April 28, 1937 in Princess Ann County, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Robert quietly slipped a\vay into the arms of God on September 26, 2016. He graduated from Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia and furthered his education at Norfolk College & Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He,vas united in Holy matrimony to Edna Mae Harris Knight in June 1st 1971. From this union, they were blessed ,with three sons. Robert Sr. was a dedicated member at St. John Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. He was an active Deacon at the church, sang on the Men's Chorus, drove the church van and assisted ,with their food bank. Before his illness, during his spare time, he visited the church's sick and shut-in. Mr.Knight was employed with the Police Force in Norfolk, Virginia. He also drove for Trailways Transit and Retired from the Greater Richmond Transit Company after thirty dedicated years of service. In his early years, Robert enjoyed boxing and teaching others his boxing techniques. Some of hls hobbies included carpentry, working on cars, watching boxing and old country westerns. Robert was a quiet man, but somehow managed to spread the \vord of God and teach others to walk in the way of the Lord. His favorite gospel song was "Fix it Jesus." He would pray with you, for you and help you through the good times and the bad times. He would tell you right from wrong, and give you the best advice in his gentle, mellow tone. Robert was a family man. He loved family reunions and get-togethers. You would always see him in a corner observing with a smile on his face and sometimes taking snaps of memories with his camera that he often toted around. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Willis,John Norman,James, Ernest, Frank, Lenora Knight and Eva K. Allen. His wonderful life will forever be remembered by: his \vife Edna Mae Harris Knight; three sons, Rodney T Harris, Sr. (Dorlise) of Spanaway, WA, Michael W Knight (Carol) of Richmond, Virginia and Robert L Knight II (Maya) of Baltimore, MD;grandchildren: Tyrell D Knight, Ashley D Williams, Rodney T Harris II, Robert L Knight III, Sharell B Knight, RoShaun L and RoNell L Knight; godson, Anthony J. Washington; great grandchildren:, Ma'Khi L Sampson, Riley Knight, Bryce R Mills, Aubrey K Overton; brothers, Clyde Knight (Patricia), Africa; Earl Knight, of Norfolk, VA; Isaiah Knight (Lorraine) of Virginia Beach, VA; Catherine Gray (Arnette) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Delores Knight, Virginia Beach, VA; dedicated friends, David Manley, Charlie Vaughn, and Carlos Roy; and a host of other family members and friends.
