Robert Eugene Sutton

Robert Eugene Sutton Sr., was born June 20, 1932 the second child of Bernice and the late MacKinsey Sutton in Parton, Maryland.Robert received his education in the Parton County School System and graduated from Douglass High School.In 1955, Robert joined the United States Armed Forces. After serving his country he returned home and married the late Ida Elizabeth King and from this union three sons were born: Wayne, Robert and James.Robert then met and fell in love with Doris Minter and from this union there were eight children: Selvin (who proceeded in him death), Natalie, Debra, Evon, Mervin, Ronnie, Doris and Lamont. Robert and Doris also raised their nephew, Jermaine Boston as their own child.During this time in raising twelve children, Robert was employed at the Chesapeake Fiber Packing Company, where he worked as a Forklift Driver for forty-seven (47) years.Robert affectionately known as Gene, Snoop, Gaddy Wilson, or 10-4, was loved by all who knew him. His fun loving spirit and personality was one of laughter and strength. Everyone he encountered could bank on his comedic ways to draw them closer to him. He loved to laugh with his unusual charm and wit. Gene was famous for telling jokes that would keep you laughing for days. Gene loved to watch T.V. especially re-runs of his favorite show, Sanford and Son. He loved to play games and being in the company of his friends and loved ones, especially his grand and great grandchildren.Robert was baptized at a young age and really loved the Lord. Robert never complained even in his illness. You could seldomly hear him say God has been good to me “Trust Me”.Robert was called from earthly labor to Heavenly reward early Sunday morning, June 5, 2005 after a lengthy illness.Robert leaves to cherish his memories: six sons, Wayne, Robert, James, Mervin, Ronnie and Lamont; four daughters, Natalie, Debra, Evon and Doris; one adopted son, Jermaine Boston; his mother, Bernice Evans; one brother, Dale Sutton; two sisters-in-law, Jofena Sutton and Johnnie Mae Thompson; two daughters-in-law, Beverly and Michelle; twenty-six grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
