Robert A. Jones

Robert Jones, Sr., beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend: admired and respected by all that came in contact with him.It was Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland that God called unto Himself the soul of our beloved Robert Allen Jones, Sr. for God had a better resting place for him.Robert was born on January 11, 1939 in Wassaic, New York. He was the older of two children.Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959. He was employed as a tractor-trailer driver at S.P. Richards Co. in Jessup, Maryland, and was a member of Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries.Robert was married to the former Eleanor “Cookie” Dover, and out of this union two children were born, Robin McKeithen and Robert Jones, Jr.Robert was a caring, friendly, patient man with nerves of steel and a pleasant personality. He was a joy to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews-whom all loved him dearly. He was always a devoted family man as well as a true friend. He made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him.Surviving and cherishing his loving memory are: his wife, Gertrude Dessesaure Jones; four daughters, Robin McKeithen, Shawn Dessesaure, Deborah Dixon, all of New York and Karryle Jones of Baltimore; fives sons Robert Jones, Jr. of North Carolina, Donald Frazier and Robert Jones III of New York, Jeffrey Jones and Allen Bryant of Maryland; twenty-six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Jones of Yonkers, New York; three daughters-in-law, Wendy of New York, Toya and Karen of Maryland; sons-in-law, Neal McKeithen of Yonkers and Tyrone of Baltimore; six brothers-in-law, Fred Dessesaure of Baltimore, James Dessesaure of Bronx, New York, Revo Young, John Evans, Mark Hubbard all of Yonkers, and Roskyco Akins of Pennsylvania; six sisters-in-law, Marie Evans, Florence Dessesaure and Tracie Dessesaure of New York, Carol Shade and Katherine Akins of Pennsylvania, Nancy Dessesaure of Baltimore, Maryland; many nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.Robert was predeceased by his mother, Agnes Bailey; grandmother, Christine Clay; brother-in-law, Daniel Shade; and daughter-in-law, Grace Frazier.
