Ricky Sylvester Brown

Ricky S. Brown departed this life on Thursday,March 6,2014 following a brief illness. He was the son of Rosa Estelle Brown and the late Robert Walker Brown. At a young age,Ricky accepted Yahshua and was baptized at Little Elam Baptist Church in Charles City,Virginia. He later joined the congregation of Antioch Baptist Church in Varina. Ricky graduated from Charles City High School in Charles City,Va and attended Delaware State University on a full wrestling scholarship. He was an entrepreneur and,in addition to full-time employment,was the proud owner of Brown Enterprises. Let's not forget his love of family! Ricky absolutely adored his wife,mother,children,grandchildren~and the family's Yorkie-Smokey("Tuska" as Ricky called him). He made everyone who entered their home feel "at home",and exhausted himself making you feel welcome. He was loving and compassionate~always willing to lend a hand to anyone!The true"Mr. Fix-It"...whether it be plumbing,electrical installations,lawn care,car wash repairs~you name it-he could do it! And,of course,he always had those"extra screws left over"after he finished assembling things! The ultimate 'joke-teller',Ricky took pleasure in telling the funny ones and he often was the only one who understood the punch line! On a softer note,he also loved to cook!Tasting his crab stuffed mushrooms,grilled steak with peppers and onions,or his rice and corn pudding was pure pleasure. Do you wonder why Ricky had such broad shoulders and an oversized chest? Simply put,it needed to be that size to hold a Heat as Big as His! To know Ricky Brown was to know love! He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife,Lorraine~his "Sunshine";his children,Chancellor (Ellie) Brown,Brittany Brown,David and Moriah Lett;his mother,Rosa Estelle Brown;grandchildren,Elizabeth,Olivia,Meleah,Nate,Isaiah,Ariyan,Noah and Tatiana;two brothers,David(Cathy)Brown and Toney(Venita)Brown;father and mother-in-law,Dr. Elmo W. (Lelia) Woodbury,Sr.;three sisters-in-law,Renee(Daryl)Potts,Sheila(Eric)Butler,and Josephine Woodbury;two brothers-in-law,Elder Elmo W. (Margaret)Woodbury,Jr. and Leon (Diana) Woodbury;favorite/devoted uncles,Claude Elliott of Wilmington,DE and Pedro Torres of Spring Valley,NY;devoted cousins,Nick Sostre and Eva Miles;a host of other relatives and friends.
