Rickey Lionel Glaspie

Ricky Lionel Glaspie, 50, son of the late Lionel L. Glaspie and Marie C. Sheppard, was born in Richmond, Virginia on April 22, 1964. He departed out of this world unto the Father on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He was baptized at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church. Ricky was educated in the Richmond Public Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. After graduation, he proudly started his career in the United States Army. Shortly after returning home from the military, he met the love of his life, Chawanda. They joined in holy matrimony on June 3, 1989. This was the beginning a wonderful and blessed union. Ricky and Chawanda were truly inseparable. They enjoyed attending services at First Union Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, where they recently became members and made it their church home. He loved to sing and was considering becoming a member of the male chorus. Ricky continued his education at Bryant & Stratton College in Richmond receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Information Technology. He received numerous academic awards including Honor Roll and the President’s List. Ricky was active in extracurricular activities on the Richmond campus, most notably serving as President of the Computer Club at Bryant & Stratton College. He graduated with honors as summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA and was chosen by the Deans of the college as the campus honoree to present the graduation speech. Ricky was very well-known for his cooking. He and his wife have owned a catering business, “A Taste from Heaven”, for the past 15 years, which they thoroughly were dedicated and enjoyed. He was employed by the Federal Government, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), as an Acquisition Specialist. He enjoyed his fellow employees and work at the agency. Ricky was known for his positive attitude and positive energy. His smile would light up a room. He had a way of turning your bad day into a good one with his uplifting personality. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Chawanda Wright Glaspie; loyal brother, Monte C. Williams, Sr. (Claudette) and Michael L. Glaspie; loving and caring mother-in-law, Edna Wright, devoted brother-in-law, who was more like a brother, Willie Lee “Tokey” Wright, Jr. (Christina); two special nieces, Sidney J. and Brooklyn S. Wright; five nephews, among them two devoted, Monte C. Jr. and MontéQ Williams; aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
